Samba 2.2.5 is crap.
Unstable windozes (hangs all the time) Major bugs in the printing system, mount and smbmount commands. Samba 2.2.5 is completely usable if you ask me. Crap I would say and should never been released. I consider to change to Beeweb although it cost money. BTW how do u uninstall the dirt?? using ./uninstall ??? ===== Investigating the Norwegain 4.th Secret ServiceThe multiheaded

Internet explorer not authenticating properly
Hi all, We are having a an ongoing problem with out NTLM authentication on out squid system. The problem tends to arise when users change their passwords. I have read a KB article that says that DC's will still continue to authenticate Old password for an hour or so after the password is changed. But I think it is between IE and winbindd that is the problem. Below is a trace at debug

Orwell's 1984 from Freedesktop,org?
I object to this sort of crap. Hidden, no reason for an *IX desktop to be forced to ignore or deal with this crap. Anybody else seeing it? In case attachments aren't allowed in the list, here's the Dropbox url for the image. https://www.dropbox.com/s/b2p2ki7t2rwi5ot/FreeDeskTop_Org_Orwell_1984.png?dl=0 I believe this relates to an earlier thread in which someone questioned what that

Voipbuster/voipstunt -- what a crap service
Hi, all I am reallty pissed with their service. I wonder if this is common problem. Firstly, all of my calls are terminated after 30s. And termination happens in a strange way. My local asterisk server does not see the disconnection, but remote party is disconnected. Basically, I am still on the phone, while remote party was disconnected. When I hang up, I get something like that: Apr 20

winbind craps out, NT_STATUS_PIPE_BROKEN
...inbind and everything was groovy again. Users that are still cached seem to work fine, sometimes for hours. It's only _some_ new connections that exhibit this problem. Restarting winbindd fixes the issue 100% of the time. I've tried to figure out how to 'detect' when winbind has crapped out on me, but wbinfo -tp, and net ads testjoin all return what would be expected. Most of the time, `id username` works fine, too, for users that are most certainly not cached. I also see a lot of noise in the logs about "more than 200 winbind connections, cleaning up idle connections"...

PRI Crapping Out Regularly
We have a server with a TE120 on a partial PRI trunk that several times a day declares the PRI trunk down and stops handling calls until the asterisk is stopped, the zaptel/te120 modules reloaded, and asterisk started. Just before things go down, the log shows the following error: ERROR[9424] chan_zap.c: Write to 28 failed: Unknown error 500 at which point a "show pri spans"

Samba trusts, mapping issue, and pam crap domain
I am running Samba ver 3.0.37 on Solaris 10 (sparc) as a PDC with LDAP for the backend for both samba and unix accounts. Assume the samba SMBPDC is called "PDC." I have also set up a trust with an Windows domain- lets call it WINDOMAIN- (the PDC for the Windows domain is Win 2003 but is in mixed mode for backwards compat.) The SAMBA domain trusts the WINDOWS domain, not not vice

still ACL bug in 3.0.14a
Sparc Solaris / UFS file system. I have some ACL's set up for a handful of users and its all worked flawlessly with every incarnation of Samba I've used over the past couple years, which would be most. Last Friday evening I upgraded from 3.0.11 to 3.0.13 and some of the users I have some ACL's set up for promptly found Monday that they couldn't save new Excel files, they'd be

libtiff 3.6.1 and Asterisk spandsp
Per: http://soft-switch.org/spandsp_faq/ar01s07.html FAXing with spandsp keeps giving me core dumps. Its crap, isn't it? Actually the crap in this case is probably libtiff. Versions 3.5.7 and 3.6.0 seem reliable. The FAX image handling in version 3.6.1 is broken. All the core dump problems I have investigated turned out to be due to a very old version of libtiff, or version 3.6.1. I am

FW: Echo on incoming calls (PRI->SIP) but not on outgoing (SIP->PRI) (no html crap, sorry)
Hello all! We have an E400P on a dual Xeon box with four EuroISDN PRI to the PSTN and Cisco ATA-186 as SIP UA. We experience very large amount of echo (on -some- calls) when we're doing PRI->SIP calls but not when doing SIP->PRI calls. We don't think the problem is IP latency related (When calls are made PRI->*->PRI we still experience the echo). What do you think?

Download to ext3 partition stalls (sans HTML crap)
(Sorry about the duplicated mails, my mailer stinks.) Hi ext3-gurus, I was doing some testing of our 100 Mbit ethernet at work, and found a weird problem which appears to be ext3 releated as far as I can tell. The test is very simple. I use ncftp to connect to another machine running vsftpd and download a very large file over the network. The network is switched, and I get 8-10 MB/s transfers

Winbind Samba 3.5.1
Somehow I can't figure out what's going wrong. I have a Samba server running as PDC. Workstations can join the domain and users can logon. So far so good. I need winbind to be able to authorize a radius server to the PDC. This I cannot achieve. If someone got give me a clue, I spend already quiet some time Google the net :( Thanks, Mark # wibinfo -u root markr # wbinfo -a
