yes, but is it 'basic serial UPS' or is it 'enhanced serial UPS' ? the
former do NOT use the rx/tx data of the serial port at all, they ONLY use
the serial port control signals, and they probably

Is this a known issue? Are there any preventative measures we could take with either the Ubuntu 10.04/Samba 3.4.7 client or with the DCs to prevent this issue from happening again if a counterfeit DC were ever to be placed on our network again?

USB-serial adapter for CentOS 7
...ot times.
I've used various serial devices, including UPSes, via various
USB-to-serial adapters (Prolific PL2303 and FTDI FT2232C), and all the
signaling works fine. Only issue you sometimes have is that there are
many cheap adapters on Amazon that claim to be Prolific or FTDI but are
in fact counterfeit clones - those may or may not work reliably for ANY
purpose.

Questions about Eaton 5E 1, 100W 2, 200VA 6-Outlet UPS

making proper contact.
It would be nice if someone more aware of the state of the UPS industry
could comment on if this UPS is Eaton 'branded' as a result of some
licencing deal and/or merger; or if this UPS happens to be a counterfeit.
I'd also like to know if I should be expecting to see things like the line
quality, UPS load, and maybe even a battery voltage (if not remaining time
estimate) from a 'lower end' UPS.

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/imem/nv50: fix incorrect use of refcount API
Commit be55287aa5b ("drm/nouveau/imem/nv50: embed nvkm_instobj directly
into nv04_instobj") introduced some new calls to the refcount api to
the nv50 mapping code. In one particular instance, it does the
following:
if (!refcount_inc_not_zero(&iobj->maps)) {
...
refcount_inc(&iobj->maps);
}
i.e., it calls refcount_inc() to increment the
