Using DECT phones as SIP phones?
I see a variety of DECT 6 phones available CHEAP at costco. Is there a way to convert these to SIP? I recall someone talking about a Siemens devices that works with all DECT phones, making them SIP (I think).... -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Intro to DECT vs IP
We've deoplyed a number of pure VoIP wireless (wifi & proprietary) phones, but not dect. Is there a simple overview of integrating DECT phones with Asterisk somewhere? I assume the DECT basestation has a multi-account SIP VoIP interface, and the handsets are just plain old dect? Can you push configuration info to individual phones? (Are they individually addressible / configurable

Spotty internet connection
...Spectrum gave me a new one. Its and ARRIS TG1682G and > it only gives me a private IP not > like the old one which gave me the public IP so I can't ssh to home > from work anymore, so I am wondering > how you do it? for Comcast/Xfinity, I'm using a Arris SB6183 that I got at Costco. this is a simple modem/bridge, so /my/ router behind it gets the public IP. I have a spare SB6121, which is DOCSIS 3.0 up to about 130Mbps max (my current internet is around 180Mbps). I'd sell this for $30 + S&H, contact me off list. -- john r pierce, recycling bits in santa cruz

Tripp Lite OMNI1000LCD UPS (USB)
Hello NUT-UPSUSERS, I would just like to try and help other and indicate that I was able to use the development trunk and get the Tripp Lite OMNI1000LCD UPS (USB) working with the newhidups drivers on Gentoo Linux. The one that is currently available at many local Costco stores and online. In case others need to replicate, I've attempted to document my steps over here. http://linuxlore.blogspot.com/2006/12/howto-set-up-nut-on-gentoo-linux-for.html Thanks for all your hard work NUT-DEVs! Most details appear to work fine. One thing I note is that the beeper.of...

Cisco 7960 SIP Images
...pany offering bsuiness products for businesses. Businesses typically pay by check and wire transfer, especially for items such as this. If you want home-user pay-by-credit-card service, buy products from Belkin's home line and similar. Oh...what's that? None of these cheesy Stocked-at-Costco hardware companies have any VoIP phones worth a crap? Then deal with the fact that you are buying from a company who doesn't target home users, and deal with it. It costs Cisco more money than they make on the contract to offer SmartNet on a single device like this. You're lucky they don...

Re: tripp lite omnivs1500xl and usb (To Arnaud)
Arnaud: I just wanted to chime in here to say that getting these TrippLite USB UPS's supported under a NUT driver would be fantastic! They are simple, inexpensive UPS's (under $100 for 1000VA at Costco) and it would be quite the "deal of the year" to be able to buy these units so cheaply and monitor them directly via Linux. I already have 5 of these units and have "usable" monitoring setup using a Windows "Master" monitor pc (actually plugged into the USB port of on...

Centos on Dell XPS15

I have a Dell Inspiron 13 (8th generation) that I bought from Costco. I am running CentOS 7 on it. I was told that it has the same hardware of XPS 13. Most things work well out of the box: wifi, suspend-to-ram, HDMI output, Audio over HDMI, touchscreen, etc. I don't remember tweaking anything. The only thing not working perfectly I could find: the screen do...

Motion Detecting Camera

I was in Costco (USA warehouse store) and saw a Philips LED display, Camera, Recorder, that was motorized. The camera followed the movement across the front of it, and could snapshot to a memory chip.? It was under $80.00 for the ensemble. The floor model worked well. OMNIPLUS1000LCD is "unavailable"
Hello! First time posting to this list. I recently purchased a Tripp-Lite OMNIPLUS1000LCD from Costco (USA). I have it attached via USB to a Dell computer with Ubuntu 8.04 server (all updates on it). I've gone through a lot of research on google and this list and can't figure out why my UPS will not connect using nut/usbhid-ups. My setup in ups.conf is: ------- [OMNI1000LCD] dr...

Tripp Lite G1000U (0x2007)
...e list, new to NUT, but not new to Unix-likes. I could use some help getting NUT to talk to my Tripp Lite G1000U. Searching Google for "Tripp Lite G1000U" returns exactly two hits at this writing, so that may not be a good sign. ;-) It may just be rebranded for sale through this source (Costco). Externally, the G1000U looks much like the SMART1000LCD: an amber LCD, jacks for coax and telephone, four protected receptacles and four non-protected, and a USB-only interface. Internally, it's product 2007, vendor 09ae. I am running FreeBSD 6.4 with a stock kernel (and so uhid is enabled...

My home network doesn't have any wireless access points (to slow) and I was iSCSI booting my wkst for a while:) Now I need to setup a printer so I was going to get an HP Photosmart C4580. The HPLIP page shows no network support:( I _was_ going to use a USB wireless nic I have and setup an ad-hoc to print to this thing. Anyone know anything that might make this work? Thanks! jlc

Disable IMAP for certain users, but not Webmailer
Hi everybody, I'm planning to set up our new mail system using the Dovecot mailbox server. It mostly works fine yet (it's quite straigt forward to set up, I'd say), but there's a thing I haven't been able to find out yet. We provide POP3 access for all users, but want to restrict IMAP access to some of them (because IMAP users tend to leave more messages on the server, thus

Asterisk Maintenance
I went on a service call yesterday to find an asterisk system with a T100P card on a Qwest PRI and a TDM40B card connected to fax machines. The TDM40B LEDs were not lit, and the system did not respond to keyboard input. However, calls were being processed for the PRI and 7960 phones. I replaced the TDM40B card with a new one, and the system now seems to be ok. But I'm wondering, why

How to make/recieve call using asterisk when thereis a power failure?
Sorry I dont have any answers, however I do have a question. I was told that ISDN-30 lines do not work during power failure. Can anyone with some better knowledge confirm or deny this? Is this because the ISDN-30 box on the wall requires power (and Telco providers just dont hook them into UPS as standard)? Or do they mean if your local circuit has lost power so will the local digital exchange

Printer recommendations
Since my old Epson C86 has finally managed to clog up the print heads, I'm in the market for a replacement. I'd like to know what the people on this list are using for printers that are currently available, since we are using versions of CUPS and foomatic that are frozen, and any other issues or "gotchas" that you are aware of. For the replacement printer, I'm considering a

Minimum budget question ...
I've tried to figure out from the web site the minimum hardware cost to run a small office Asterix solution but I'm afraid I miss something: Let's say that I want to connect four/five analogic extension to the PBX. I have: - 1 computer as the server (with linux and Asterisk on it) - 1 dummy patch panel to connect all the analogic phones around the office What (and how many) cards
