Icecast Streaming to an iPhone or iPod touch
Hello everyone,
I have created a patch that allows an iPod touch or iPhone with "CoreMedia" to receive Icecast streams directly from the server.
I did modify the original patch from the mailing list to include user agent switching for CoreMedia vs. other browsers.
Please let me know how it works. I have been streaming a local weather radio on Icecast with the iPhone patch (attache...

Nightly yum update did an "upgrade"
...upgrade to new releases in the nightly updates? I would like do to nightly updates, but make release upgrades manual (I get a new kernel, so I have to reboot anyway).
Is that possible?

AW: Problems with installation
ok - I tried this too. But CentOS tries to find the floppy as /dev/hda which
is not the device for the USB-Floppy. Dell ships one with the server because
no one is integrated. So when I try to include the driver disk the installer
is not able to find it.

iPhone patches question
...the iPhone patches. The metadata.server would run a script that can check for metadata either from a database or the Icecast server to display in a XML format.
Then a display page such as web.server/display.php/htm would contact the metadata server and display its information and have an embeeded CoreMedia or Quicktime Player to play the stream from the actual icecast server.
With the use of AJAX or automated checking in the page, you could check the metadata server's script every 3-25 seconds to return XML to be displayed such as:

AW: executable on /etc/rc.local doesn't start
Do you have any logfile output? First check whether the environment
(JAVA_HOME for example) is set before calling
/usr/apache-tomcat-5.5.17/bin/startup.sh. For example
<<<< snip
#!/bin/bash
export JAVA_HOME=/opt/jdk1.5.0_05_x86_64
bin/startup.sh
>>>> snip

[PATCHES] Smartjog PatchDump
Hello,
I work at SmarctJog.com, we have here some patches on IceCast for
performance and reliability, these are mostly client/connection/source
cleanups (a slave merge is underway, and some more good stuff (c)),
but we'd like this to be merged in before the list gets any longer.
Please find attached a list of our patches with a short desc:

No Access after enabling SMB2
Hello,
i have a Samba Server running on CentOS 5.6 with samba package 3.5.8
from SerNet.
Shares can accessed until I enable max protocol = smb2, after that no
access is possible.
In the samba logfiles such an access is logged with:
Failed to parse NTLMSSP packet, could not extract NTLMSSP command
Followed by a dump_data.
Any ideas?
Cheers,

samba and BUILTIN groups
Hi all,
yesterday I installed Samba Version 3.0.23b on our new fileserver. We
currently have another fileserver with Samba 3.0.22.
Our existing fileserver is compiled from source because we patched it to
support Windows 2003 Server R2 active directory schema. (We changed the
OIDs Samba reads from the ADS schema.)
Now we want to replace it with rpm-packages of the new version. We
installed a

Problems with installation
Hi all,
I try to install CentOS 4.3 for X64_64 on a new Dell PowerEdge 2950. I have
two problems:
1.
After booting from CD I pressed 'return' to start installation (BIOS-support
for USB-keyboard works). After probing the hardware my USB-Keyboard is not
working anymore. Dell removed ALL PS/2-Interfaces so I have to use USB. When
I start installation with 'linux noprobe' the

I will install CentOS 4.3 and downloaded the driver disk from Dell for

I saw a few minutes ago that the driver disk is extracted within
