Question about Instruction Selection
Hi,
I'm new to LLVM and I'm doing research on factors of compilation time,
especially instruction selection and scheduling. One of the academic papers
I read,
https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/www-pubs/trunk/2008-CGO-DagISel.pdf (Koes,
David Ryan, and Seth Copen Goldstein. "Near-optimal instruction selection
on dags."), which is also said to be the algorithm LLVM currently
used(Correct me if I'm wrong), introduce an selection algorithm for DAG
instead of tree matching.
My question is, according to the paper, each tile in DAG has a cost value...

SSH 5.8p1 hang in kernel mode / AIX 7.1
Hello,
An AIX machine runs a program that forks ssh client in order to
launch commands on a remote. I'm first seting up a Master connection
with a ControlPath, then using that connection to launch various
commands on the remote, and killing the master by issuing a
"-O exit" command.
SSH client version on that machine is :
# ssh -V

problems with oplocks = false in 2.0 beta version
Hi Everybody,
I seem to still be having problems with the caching of files on the
PC. I have tried to set the oplocks = false variable in the smb.conf
file but that has not seemed to help. Here is what I do to see the problem
Open a file on the PC, the close it.
Go to a unix machine and modify the file.
Go back to the PC and re-open the file. I will get the old copy of
the file for a few

dtrace missing ''unlinkat''? showing process stack?
everyone,
Just out of curiosity, I did a
dtrace -n ''syscall:::entry { @num[execname, probefunc] = count(); }''
and looked at the entries produced by ''rm''.
I see everything that rm did, *except* the unlinkat - which is unfortunate because I want to trace which processes have deleted which files.
So - does dtrace contain unlinkat as a probe for a system call?

zpool import hangs indefinitely (retry post in parts; too long?)
Now at 36 hours since zdb process start and:
PID USERNAME SIZE RSS STATE PRI NICE TIME CPU PROCESS/NLWP
827 root 4936M 4931M sleep 59 0 0:50:47 0.2% zdb/209
Idling at 0.2% processor for nearly the past 24 hours... feels very stuck. Thoughts on how to determine where and why?

[LLVMdev] Multiple definitions of _floor_log2
I am trying to build the llvm-gcc frontend. I think I have followed the
directions correctly.
I am using cygwin on XP SP2 (uname -a reports: CYGWIN_NT-5.1 pad7
1.5.25(0.156/4/2) 2007-12-14 19:21 i686 Cygwin)
gcc --version reports: gcc (GCC) 3.4.4 (cygming special, gdc 0.12, using
dmd 0.125)
Since there is no binary for llvm-gcc I am following the directions in
the tar file for the 4.2 version.

[LLVMdev] Trying to compile frontend 4.0 fails on cygwin
I sent an earlier email about failing to compile 4.2, I have since tried

I am running on windows XP SP2
Cygwin is (as reported by uname -a): CYGWIN_NT-5.1 pad7

Gcc is: gcc (GCC) 3.4.4 (cygming special, gdc 0.12, using dmd 0.125)
I ran configure, then make. Make dies with:
