building RPMs for R packages
hi all-
apologies if this question has come up before; i took a swing through a
few months of archives and didn't turn anything up.
i'm a linux systems administrator, and we're running R across a beowulf
cluster. i've been asked to install the bioconductor package, for which
i can't find RPMs. the recommended way to do this on the bioconductor
home page is via R CMD INSTALL,

xl: expose max_cpu_id from `xl info`
This will allow userspace to reason with the total number of CPUs, not
just the current number of online CPUs.

Cooperate with SIP ITSP
Hi All,
When I want use Asterisk as a PBX to cooperate SIP ITSP,
I can not set the caller ID, so SIP ITSP do not accept
the call.
In Asterisk, I set a account in sip.conf to register on
ITSP SIP Server:
register => 6292@218.1.121.237/6292
And I added a user 6292 in Asterisk just like the account
on ITSP SIP Server:
[6291]
type=friend
username=6291
callerid=6291
host=dynamic

[PATCH] common/initcall: Extern linker symbols with correct types.
Coverity IDs 1054956, 1054957
Coverity pointed out that we applying array operations based on an expression
which yielded singleton pointers. The problem is actually that the externs
were typed incorrectly.
Correct the extern declaration to prevent straying into undefined behaviour,
and relying on the lenience of GCC to work.

Multiple samba servers with LDAP
I was wondering what the best practice is for setting up several SAMBA
servers in a SAMBA domain all on the same LAN. Here is what I am
looking at
PDC: LDAP, Samba, nss_ldap, pam_ldap
Member1: Samba, nss_ldap, pam_ldap
Member2: Samba, nss_ldap, pam_ldap
Member . . . .
Should I set the member servers up with:
Security = domain
and join the severs with net rpc join
or, whould it be better to set

manifest for files executable on windows
Hello Puppet Users,
I need a puppet master (Ubuntu) to push the executable files to the agent
(windows 7) and install those executables
I believe the manifest file should be set up to push such config to the
windows agent. I came up with something like this:
class wireshark {
exec { ''wireshark'':

Cooperating with dovecot in its Maildir
Is it possible to cooperate with dovecot within its Maildir, and if so,
what's required?
In this particular case, we're thinking of trying to allow notmuch to
operate directly on the dovecot Maildir, and at the moment, the only
modifications notmuch makes are to change maildir flags. Would locking
dovecot-uidlist.lock be sufficient, perhaps via liblockfile?
Also, is there some reliable
