Appropriate privileges of users on Win clients
Hi Everyone, when I first switched my users from a Win2K advanced server to samba I included the group of "Authenticated users" in the local group "Administrators" on all clients as a quick fix for the unexpected gotcha that all of a sudden after switching to samba no one had any privileges to change any of the optional properties of the Desktop, the Taskbar or the

CentOS-4.4 - Some major changes on the way
I would like to take the time to inform people that CentOS-4.4 will contain some major changes. The changes are significant enough that I would like to spell out some of them now, probably at least a month before the release of the upstream "EL4 update 4" is released. The Mozilla Suite (Browser, Mail, Chat clients) will be replaced by SeaMonkey. This is due to Mozilla's change in

Plot colour according to column
Hi, I am trying to plot several columns in different graphs in columns and rows. The first column of my data file is the time, and the third is the 'elevation angle' with 19 different numbers. I would like to plot the rest of the columns with the x axis as time and the individual angles in different colours. Here is the code I am using right now. It plots the different columns with time,

conflicted: an alternative conflict resolution strategy
Hi all, I?d love to get your feedback on the conflicted package, which provides an alternative strategy for resolving ambiugous function names (i.e. when multiple packages provide identically named functions). conflicted 0.1.0 is already on CRAN, but I?m currently preparing a revision (<https://github.com/r-lib/conflicted>), and looking for feedback. As you are no doubt aware, R?s default

conflicted: an alternative conflict resolution strategy
If you have to load two packages which both export the same name in their namespaces, namespace does not help in resolving which synonymous function to use. Neither does it help to have a package instead of a script as long as you end up loading two namespaces with name conflicts. The order of importing namespaces can also be difficult to control, because you may end up loading a namespace already

...is change it not just about learning new tools. It is about how the system works. I am not going to argue they (refugees to UNIX) are right, or proponents of systemd (and friends) are right. But for that (to make good decision), once again: Read the "upgrade notes" [systemd documentation in this case]! This is the decision about your system and its future life. conflicted: an alternative conflict resolution strategy
Dear Hadley, There's been some mails from you lately about packages on R-devel. I would argue that the appropriate list for that is R-pkg-devel, as I've been told myself not too long ago. People might get confused and think this is about a change to R itself, which it obviously is not. Kind regards Joris On Thu, Aug 23, 2018 at 8:32 PM Hadley Wickham <h.wickham at gmail.com>

conflicted: an alternative conflict resolution strategy
First, some general comments: This sounds like a useful package. I would guess it has very little impact on runtime efficiency except when attaching a new package; have you checked that? I am not so sure about your heuristics. Can they be disabled, so the user is always forced to make the choice? Even when a function is intended to adhere to the superset principle, they don't always

Why SAM has totally diffent results in R2.1.1 and R2.4.0
Hi, I am using SAM (from siggenes_1.2.11 package) method to select genes from a microarray data set. After installing the latest R2.4.0 on my computer, to my surprise the results are totally different from that calculated using R2.1.1. Even the example code doesn't work the same way under these two versions of R. Does anybody know what is going on? Thanks for any suggestions.
