Minimal hardware requirements
Hi, all
I am doing "prrof of concept" system. I will have two IP phones connected to Asterisk box. Box itself will have 1 PSTN conenction and one analog phone conenction. A basic minimal configuration.
At the moment I am planning to use an old PII-350 with 128M of RAM I have lying around. I can not test anything yet, as I am waiting for phones to arrive, so question is will that be enough to demonstrate?
Thanks,
Rudolf

existing users can't conenct anymore after upgrade
Hello list,
i have updated the fedora core 5 samba package yesterday. since then the
existing users can not access the shares anymore, but new created users
can. the log says "User <olduser> not in 'valid users'", but the old
users are of course still there side by side with the new user. the
update was from 3.0.14a to 3.0.23. i am using the 64bit package and

Re: Looking for answers....
[Redirected to the general samba list]
One of the things which Samba provides is a facility
to run a "preexec" script before allowing a user to connect
to a directory, and refuse to make the conenction if
the script returns a non-zero result.
This can prevent someone from logging on twice,
limit them to specific hours, from conencting to
the wrong directory and so on.
In addition, one can set "valid users" so that only
the owner of a directory can connect to it.
Of course,...

FXO ATA?
Is the Sipura 3000 the only way to interface a remote pstn line and connect
incoming calls to Asterisk? I have a location connected by network that has
a phone line, when the room is occupied I want the line ti ring there as
normal, but when the employee is travelling I want the line to be conencted
to a ATA that then feeds it as an incoming pstn line to the pbx located at
my office so it can follow her.
It sounds like the Sipura 3000 would be perfect, what else would do it?

Prob with Ringing multiple Channels
hi,
The prob is when we ring 2 channels simultaneously, only 1 channel is actually ringing.
In our configuration, the Asterisk box is connected to an E1 channel bank,
where 15 analog extensions are conencted to channelbank inturn.
We tried following,
Dial,Zap/g4/444&Zap/g4/448|20|t
Heres the output,

Rails, multiple connections and threads
...I have following questions
1. While the script is being executed are other connection requests to
server waiting or are there services?
2. Is there a number parallel connections concept with rails? If yes how
to configure it?
3. Should I make the script call as part of a new Thread to avoid other
conenctions from waiting?
Thanks,
Sudhindra

IAX Trunking Weirdness
...d qualify=yes (just so
I can see ping times). trunk=yes is on globally, AND in each peer/friend definition.
IAX2 SHOW PEERS shows a (T) next to each server, indicating that a trunk will be
established.
Servers on the same LAN segment seem to trunk OK. (IAX2 TRUNK DEBUG shows
meaningful info).
Conenctions where 1 server is behind a firewall works fine, but trunking does
not seem to work. The only other difference is the codec. On the remote servers
(the ones behind the firewalls), I'm running G729 (the Intel one). The LAN-based
servers all talk to each other using G.711.
Anyone have any...

load balancing over 4 lines to one provider
yes, this is a crazy subject. I have 4 ADSL lines to the same provider, which
even have the same gateway. Those lines are connected to the same machine (more
crazyness: even connected to the same nic. it works fine, I swear). this machine
will serve this conenction to a local net.
so, I setup the ifaces correctly, everything works. I add balancing using this
command:
# ip route replace default nexthop dev ppp0 nexthop dev ppp1 nexthop dev ppp2
nexthop dev ppp3
I try this downloading a iso image using BT and checking with iptraf. the load
gets balanc...

Maybe a NAT problem
...client inside my LAN to a
client on the INTERNET, the person receives the call and listen me
perfectly, but i can't listen any audio from him, i read about the
issue and it seems to be a problem of nating, keep in mind that this
server is masquerading all my LAN ips, so i can share my internet
conenction, so when i receive a call form the outside world in fact
x-lite shows me that the call originate from my inside interface IP of
the server, but this is the strange thing the packets that originate
the call from the outside world arrive just fine but when i answer the
call i can't hear any au...

Note that it never even shows an authentication dialog, and the

DNAT Issue
...to the other) but its
giving issues.
Specificaly when one server tries to connect to the other it looks up the
record and get the external IP address and therefor tries to connect
via that address.
So I''m trying to set up the following rule to direct the traffic
correctly, as
it cannot conenct directly using the external IP address.
DNAT lan:10.1.1.2 lan:10.1.1.15 tcp smtp -
124.124.124.124
DNAT lan:10.1.1.15 lan:10.1.1.2 tcp smtp -
123.123.123.123
This (in my view) should route traffic from 10.1.1.2 directed to
124.124.124.124 to 10.1.1.15 and vis...

Unable to start Xorg in dom0 (Linux kernel 6.1.18)

I installed the Xen3.1.0 based on Fedora8 and enter the Dom0 successfully.
The kernel of dom0 is linux-2.6.18-xen0. But the Xorg could not start in
the Dom0. When I use the "startx" command to start the X server, the error

ODBC MySql DB: sqlQuery empty
...ar R Beginners, Experts and Users,
I already asked this question on the R-sig-DB mailing list, but sadly
didn't got a reply :-( .
Keeping fingers crossed that I have more luck on the main R mailinglist :) .
I'm trying to connect to a MySQl database via Gnu R using the RODBC
interface. The conenction workes but I get an empty result string.
Gnu R and the MySql DB are running on a 64 bit server. I installed
version 5.1 of the mysql ODBC interface files [1]. My unixODBC setup
file is given in [2], the setup was tested with "isql" and works [3].
If I connect from GNU R to the database...

Re: Problems with Excel & MS Word files (EVEN - still ANY ideas?)
...process hangs, it appears as though the process
itself is tied up in some sort of loop or something and becomes
un-responsive; the client tries to auto-reconnect and does so spawning a new
'duplicate' session to the first. Problem herein is two fold; first, the
smbd process they origionally conencted with is still running, and still
maintains the file locks for the file they are accessing, secondly, the smbd
process maintains 100% cpu time (as the O/S allows anyhow, not lagging the
servers thankfully).
So, we keep running into an issue (usually with Microsoft Excel or Word
documents), wherei...
