Digium S101I as a traveling companion
I have a few questions with regards to Digium S101I adapter. I would like to use it as a traveling companion, plugging it into various networks (all behind firewall I assume). I'll be registering it into my asterisk server (behind firewall, port 4569 will be open). 1.) If I plug that small adapter S101I into another network will that network have to have port 4569 open as well? 2.) If

Questions on Inserting R graphs in latex!
Hi, I try to insert R graphs into a latex file and I am using a Texniccenter/MikTex combination in my Windows XP. Here are the errors I got. Could someone give me some clues? In R, I did > plot(sin(1:10), pch="+") > dev.print(device=postscript, "C:\\myFigure.eps",onefile=FALSE, horizontal=FALSE, paper="special") In latex, I did (myFigure.eps is in the same

Recommendations regarding textbooks
Hello I was hoping to get some advice regarding teaching R in an academic environment. What are the best choices with respect to textbooks? When this question was asked a few years back, people were primarily recommending ?Modern Applied Statistics with S? and ?Introductory Statistics with R? as two good choices. I?ve also heard some good thinks regarding ?An R Companion to Applied

EZStream and Cue Sheets
I may have asked this before, but either I didn't, or I've inadvertently discarded the message containing the answer, so pardon please if this is a repeat. Wil EZStream ever support cue sheets--a companion file containing metadata information normally inserted into the stream from that contained in the multimedia file itself? More play-out software is including the ability to produce

Companion software to shadow_copy2 (lvmthin snapshot management)
Summary: what software are you using to generate (non-zfs) snapshots for use with vfs shadow_copy2? I've recently deployed a file server to a new site and one of my pet projects has been enabling Windows Previous Versions functionality. I had originally intended to use Snapper to generate and manage lvm thin snapshots, however it seems it's build scripts are broken on rhel8/centos8

SciViews-R, a GUI layer and companion applications for R
Hello, An alpha version (unstable, still in development) of SciViews-R can be downloaded from http://www.sciviews.org/SciViews-R. Boot Scriptor, companion to Isolinux.
Hello everyone, I'd like to introduce a program I've made called Boot Scriptor. To quote the website, "Boot Scriptor is a program that allows a high degree of interactivity when booting from a CD-ROM drive. It provides a set of commands designed to enable users to boot a system in a number of ways, as well as provide interactive menus to choose boot options from. More

EZStream and Cue Sheets
Looks like it's what I need. Do you know, is there a distro or repo for Fedora? Or should I build it from source? Looks like a lot of tedium. I'll give it a go on Red Hat, but not before a full backup first. Multilevel Analyses in R
I am new to R and would like to get some practice analyzing multilevel data. I wonder if anyone can point me to a sample data set and command lines that I might replicate for a sample session. I would then compare my output with HLM output. Any help is appreciated. ------ Harold C. Doran Director of Research and Evaluation New American Schools 675 N. drbd strategy
I have an existing in-production LAMP server running Centos 5.1. It uses physical partitions on top of hardware RAID1, having / /home /var and /boot on separate partitions. We have a near-identical system I am thinking of bringing in as a DRBD/Heartbeat companion. One solution may be to use csync2 [http://oss.linbit.com/csync2/] on /etc and /usr/local (the only areas that will differ from

estara softphone problem
Hi all, I installed the estara softphone and had no problem registering it with asterisk. I could make calls to other hardware SIP phones (Cisco 7960) from the softphone, but I couldn't call the softphone from the Cisco 7960s. The asterisk console gave me an error message saying "unable to create channel" to my softphone. What could be the problem? I searched the archive with no

F and Wald chi-square tests in mixed-effects models
I have a doubt about the calculation of tests for fixed effects in mixed-effects models. I have read that, except in well-balanced designs, the F statistic that is usually calculated for ANOVA tables may be far from being distributed as an exact F distribution, and that's the reason why the anova method on "mer" objects (calculated by lmer) do not calculate the denominator df nor a

How to specify "newdata" in a Cox-Modell with a time dependent interaction term?
Dear Mr. Therneau, Mr. Fox, or to whoever, who has some time... I don't find a solution to use the "survfit" function (package: survival) for a defined pattern of covariates with a Cox-Model including a time dependent interaction term. Somehow the definition of my "newdata" argument seems to be erroneous. I already googled the problem, found many persons having the

[LLVMdev] Questions about deallocation responsibilities
I am, from a front end, calling functions like LLVMModuleCreateWithName, found in Core.h, ultimately calling LLVMWriteBitcodeToFile, found in BitWriter.h. Do I correctly presume, from the existence of LLVMDisposeModule, that I am responsible for calling it when I'm done? Will I need to do deeper disposing myself? I presume at least I will need to free strings I allocated myself, such as the

Sun finally ships Samba as standard on Solaris 9
Well you won't find them shouting about it, but if you dig down in their web pages on Solaris 9 you'll find this : "Common Linux applications, such as Samba, Apache, Linux (GNU) commands, etc., are included in the Solaris 9 Operating Environment. The Solaris Software Companion CD has an even more comprehensive set of free software." So I guess that means we made it onto the OS
