RE: installing automatic routes ?
Unless the bridge keeps stateful inspection data and can reply back to the session''s origin, not it route then its fine. The only way I can see this working is either putting the FTP/.. DMZ behind the firewall giving true firewall protection for all services involved, or if you just want to kludge the current solution, you can perform a DNAT/SNAT interface bounce like the following: #

Ethernet bridge overflow ?
...llo, I''ve setuped an ethernet bridge on a debian sarge 3.1 with l7-filter + ipp2 shapper rules The server is a supermicro p4sci + celeron pentium 4 base 3ghz + 512Mb + 2 ethernet e1000 One interface is connected to a cisco catalyst switch The other interface is connected directly to a CMTS (a sort of router for cable modem) configured as bridge too. More than 20Mbps of bandwith cross this bridge. Most of this traffic is p2p (~80%) When traffic goes over 14Mbps the bridge seems to saturate (overflow ? ) and start to make colision and loose packets I''ve take a look to this...

Block internet access for some users on the LAN ?
...nt's personal devices. <snip> If nixspam doesn't gag me again - tried to respond yesterday. Put anyone whose MAC address isn't registered on a different subnet, like 192.168.11.x, and give your router no route to 9.0.9.9, only to the internal. As a response to someone else's cmts, the set of kids who knows how they're being blocked is a small subset of all kids, and those who know that a MAC address can be forged is a small subset of the previous. And *then* they'd have to find out a valid MAC address. On top of that, it would seem to me that the ones for whom you...

C7, systemd, say what?!
...ook, as much as I dislike systemd, going on and on and on just ain't of interest. Hell, I'll probably skim and delete, or just delete. Now, the information that someone posted about what might be happening to cause my original question was helpful, and in *that* context, in the same email, cmts about systemd, sure. But I dunno 'bout most of you, but a flamewar that runs for *weeks*, as we've seen here, is of no interest. Maybe we need another mailing list, like alt.religion.editors*, we could have alt.religion.systemd.... <g> mark * vi, not emacs! Nyahhhh....

A firefox/CentOS 7 oddity
I just switched to a new workstation, running C 7, the other day. I was looking at a blog, and in the thread of cmts, I wanted to play this one youtube video. I listened, then closed the tab. The video that had been *above* it in the thread started playing, and hasn't stopped. Every other time until now that I've done this, closing the tab shuts down the video.... mark

selinux, sendmail, and disable_ipv6
Just started seeing this on one server: python: SELinux is preventing sendmail from read access on the file disable_ipv6. It recommends a local policy. Now, searching, I see someone filed a bug for CentOS last year, 0012914, and they wound up creating a policy. Cmts? Note, btw, that the system has two IPv6 addresses - my manager has fallen for slack. Both valid. mark

A strange situation with MegaCli64 and smartctl
...e, I get Smartctl open device: /dev/sda [megaraid_disk_11] failed: INQUIRY failed However, if I run any commend with MegaCli64, it sees the drives fine. It's as though smartctl has cached some info, somewhere.... Any thoughts? NOTE: after a good bit of searching online, I found someone's cmts that on *some* cards, the drive number starts at 8. Oh, and when I tried that, I got "enclosure", and the actual drives show at 9.... mark

Implementing VoIP for first time with Packetcable
Hi group! I'm trying to make the first VoIP call in our LAN but I have some doubts. We have a Motorola CMTS (BSR1000) which has packetcable, and we have 2 eMTA Motorola to make some tests. I know I need a softswitch to make call management. My question is if this software is the appropiate to install it on my bussiness with packetcable to make some tests and the first call VoIP and say "hello"...

Hi I'm a new user of Asterisk and made the first VoIP call on my own LAN with a good quality. Now I want to configure a CMTS (motorola BSR 1000) and a server to support QoS. Does anyone knows how to configure this in order to work with SIP and with Asterisk? any ideas or tutorials? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... C7, systemd, say what?!
I think we had enough of Systemd flaming last month. Please stop polluting my inbox and find an operating system compatible with your worldview. It is really tiresome to keep on hearing about it. Our users surf the Internet by cable modems and we have a CMTS Motorola BSR 1000 with QoS options. I know I can configure it to manage QoS but I don't know very well how to do it. Optimum online-upload throttling confirmed.
Hello All, I was recently fighting with an optimum online connection in NY. I finally got in touch with someone that confirmed they are throttling my upload connection. I just wanted to make everyone aware of it, so if you have problems if your ping times jump erratically, this could be the cause. Their suggestions were, although you can upload a lot, do not do it constantly. They do not want

Block internet access for some users on the LAN ?
Hi, In our local school we have two servers and roughly 80 clients. The network is 192.168.10.0/255.255.255.0, and DHCP+DNS is managed by Dnsmasq. School PCs (teachers and management) are registered via MAC address and get an IP address in a specific range: 192.168.10.2 - 192.168.10.50 - management + teachers 192.168.10.201 - 192.168.10.220 - computer room 192.168.10.246 - 192.168.10.247 -
