pppd and radius
I've been googling, but after getting nowhere for a while I thought I'd
ask for a direction to head in. I am replacing a RH7.1 box that was
performing dial-in service using a pppd patched for radius support. I'd
prefer not to do things this way and would like to use a more easily
updated configuration.
What I need it to do is do auth against a radius server and support

Suggestion!
...not make Ogg Vorbis
streamable through QTSS or Darwin Streaming server. The people at
Apple are willing to incorporate it I'm sure. Would be nice to be able
to stream Ogg Vorbis from with QTSS or Darwin Server!! Lemme know what
you think!

Install CentOS 6.3 to partitionable mdadm array
...a partitionable md device, or is that not an option? I'd
like to avoid having multiple md devices on the same physical drives,
and unfortunately the application I'm installing doesn't place nicely
with LVM.
Thanks,

ICMP
After the recent attacks on the major servers on the web my ISP has
decided to stop all ICMP messages from his ISP.
I have red the RFCs and it seems that he cant do that... As a result
pings and traceroutes will not work.
I need a friendly person out there to tell me a way to break the news to
him that he has to allow ICMP packets
through his network... any suggestions would be helpfull

OPIE support patch
I just cobbled up a little patch to add support for OPIE to
OpenSSH. Currently untested, but feedback is welcome.

Passive FTP server
Hello everyone,
I run a Pure-FTP server on my DMZ. I can specify with Pure-ftp what ports
will be used for clients when they connect with passive mode. I entered
50000 50400, so I have enough for 200 users at the same time.
Then the pure-ftp website tells me to open up those ports on the firewall.
How do I do this? In my rules file is now something like:
ACCEPT net dmz:10.0.0.2 tcp

tap1 problem
Hi Tinc Mailing-Group,
Having set up the kernel correctly, and got tinc running successfully,
I am now trying to get two VPNs running at once. Hence I need to
have two ethertap devices ( /dev/tap0 and /dev/tap1 ).
The first tap0 device was created thus:
mknod -m 600 /dev/tap0 c 36 16
chown 0.0 /dev/tap0
The second tap1 device was created too:
mknod -m 600 /dev/tap1 c 36 17
chown 0.0 /dev/tap1

Extending Wondershaper a bit
...Local lan
As you can see, I got a Debian box in the middle as my firewall with 3
network interfaces and a wireless one. I use Shorewall to configure
everything and it works. I masquerade LAN, LOC and DMZ towards internet and
have extra rules for hiding the local lan from the wlan, etc. I have a
Cistron MAXX abo to the internet (8192/512kbits).
Then I wanted to use QOS, so I patched my 2.4.18 kernel with HTB, and used
the Wondershaper 1.1a. It works! I see three classes, with traffic in all
three of them. But it only diferentiates between types of traffic, and I
would like it to diferentiate base...

I've been breaking my head why R---which i find fabulous, by the
way---does not pipe interactive output through a pager (more or less),
like it does with help(), or like GNU Octave does with arrays with more
than terminal height rows.
Maybe it is my installation (Debian/GNU Linux). Maybe it is my
configuration, but i don't think so because with

[Bug 460] New: ut_addr_v6 not used
...URL: http://bugs.debian.org/167867
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: sshd
AssignedTo: openssh-unix-dev at mindrot.org
ReportedBy: cjwatson at debian.org
Miquel van Smoorenburg <miquels at cistron.nl> supplied this note and patch:

However, in IPv6 mode, sshd doesn't write the utmp 'ut_addr' field.
This patch fixes that; for 4-in-6 connections, the IPv4 address
is written to ut_addr, for IPv6 connections, the IPv6 address
is written to ut_addr_v6.
