deleting from hash question
I''m a ruby newbie and have what is probably a relatively simple problem I''m trying to solve. Say that I created a hash: TASKS = { "homework" => "Do Your Homework", "chores" => "Your Have Chores", "exercise" => "Don''t Forget to Exercise" } and then I had an Assignment model with: def self.find_assignments(person) find(:all, :conditions => ["person_id = ?", person .id]) end Which I called in t...

E-Mail Serving Options
Hi All, What are my e-mail serving options? I need to host POP, IMAP and SMTP. I must admit that non-windows e-mail hosting has always been a chore for me. I remember QMail and QPopper IIRC. -Jason

Java install
While using Fedora, I always used java straight from Sun. What is recommended for CentOS?? Getting jetty, java and other java apps working correctly has been a real chore. If I used nothing but RPMs for CEntOS, would I have a real working java install? I need some help on this one badly. Sieve "OOO" configuration
..."out of office"message correctly. However, I want to configure it to send an "OOO" message only during certain dates, say on weekends, or only between certain hours. I can do that manually; however, was wondering if there is any automatic method available that could handle this chore. Thanks! -- Jerry

detaching console from background asterisk
This puzzles me. If I start asterisk in the background, and then attach to it to perform some chores, is there a way to detach again without stopping the background process? Entering "stop now" kills both the console attachment as well as the background process. I need to attach to the running asterisk in order to do "init keys" but once I do that, it seems I cannot just l...

New to Samba
...get the smbd to startup. I got swat keying into the smb.conf but it ended up in another directory so I don't think that is configured. I can't even find good documentation to see if samba is even running. I run a fairly large Active Directory. I woldn't mind opening up Samba to do more chores in my domain but not if I can't get it going. What would be the best reference book. Sorry to ask so many questions but my Google searches did not get me to-the-point info that I need. Thanks for any help Gary Hostetler

problem with non-focused fxruby gui freezing or blanking out.
I find that when a running fxruby program looses focus or another window is placed in front of it, when the fxruby window regains focus, many times the gui is now frozen or blank. This seems to happen especially frequently when the window covering it is a java or fox based application. Usually it comes back but sometimes it takes several minutes to do so. I would really like to find someway

building libtheora 1.0 on win64
I have an old conferencing app that uses theora and I'm building it for win64. libthora 1.1 builds just fine, but libtheora 1.0 has errors related to assembly code when building for x64. I've tried using 1.1, but the video does not look right -- the clients all generate their own first 3 packets instead of sending them over the network since they assume they are all on the same version

best source for rpmdevtools RPM in C5
hello, I'm going to try this question again. The first time I botched it and the answers I got were useless. I want to use rpmdevtools to help with some packaging chores. There is no C5 version that I can find. I've located an SRC RPM in a location that is known to be C5 compatible. There are 2 versions of rpmdevtools: http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/6/SRPMS/rpmdevtools-6.1-0.1.fc6.src.rpm http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora...

NAT troubles with IPSEC traffic

Thanks in advance, this one has been quite a chore, I have tried two different firewall scripts with no success, I am starting to suspect my kernel. batch convert mbox to maildir
Hello, I have used mb2md for an individual user like this: su ~username cd ~ ./mb2md -m This converted /var/spool/mail/username mbox to /home/users/username/Maildir just as I expected. To convert 100s of users the same way would be a chore (su as each user for permissions, etc.). Is there a way to batch process all /var/spool/mail/$USER to /home/users/$USER/Maildir with the correct permissions/file owners for each user?

Use virt-* tools from within container?
Hi, all. I've set up an LXC container for various Openstack admin chores, and now I'm being asked to have it used for importing qcow2 images -- on which we want to run utilities like virt-sparsify and virt-sysprep, first. Sadly, when I do that, it dies horribly, e.g., root@openstack-cli:/tmp# virt-sysprep -a cloud-image.qcow2 Examining the guest ... libguestfs:...

OT ? Shell script
Does anyone have an elegant solution for finding the date of the 3rd Monday each month and the date of the Sunday preceding? (Sunday shouldn't be beyond my capabilities, once the Monday part is worked out.) For the past several years, I've been handling the chore using a file with a manually input list of dates -- which is about as elegant as driving a tack with a sledge hammer.

S/N on this list is plummeting...
Is it possible to create an alternate list for the people who insist on spending their days posting long-winded political commentary and opinion? Maybe something like centos-offtopic? Reading the list has gone from "fun" status to "chore." Just a suggestion. Cheers, C

Using R in Java?
Hi 2 questions- 1. Is there a package that will allow me to run R scripts (entirely) from Java? 2. If so, is there a way to capture the output of those scripts, (including images) and embed them in my SWT java app? My challenge is I have a java app that does some statistical chores- it would be fantastic if the users could use their R skills to modify a script in whatever R environment they like and then my app could use that script to calculate the results and display them in the app. I have found StatET and JavaGD with rJava/JRI and read through all the docs... its seems...

GUI for Asterisk Configuration
Fellow Asterisk users, I want to make configuration of Asterisk less of a chore. I noticed that there are quite a few GUI based configuration tools posted on the wiki. I am curious if there is a consensus on which is the best, most stable, easiest to install etc. Thanks, Von Belser

Sharing Fail2ban data
Good Day, I've been doing a little work that I wanted to share. We've had a number of Asterisk systems that have been under heavier than normal attack. We use fail2ban but we either have to let each system be exposed or keep all the data synchronized which is a bit of a chore. I wrote a little server that assists in keeping data synchronized across sites. If you're interested in using it to assist in managing your own fail2ban sharing list I'll gladly share it. I also am offering it as a free service for those who are interested in contributing to a blac...

[Game] Pathologic: help me create a useful bug report
...roblems, and Pathologic is one of the few that really bothers me. As far as I can tell, the game uses DirectX9, Windows Media format (cinematics), and OpenAL. Of the three, the WMF dependency is the most annoying, as it in turn requires windows media player, which makes installation something of a chore. The commands used are Code: cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Buka/Pathologic/bin/Final/ wine Game.exe The result is that the screen gamma is altered, the screen goes black, and then the program terminates (leaving the gamma altered). Crashlog (pastebin) (http://pastebin.com/md8a3242) While...
