Replace full PRI with SIP/IAX trunks...YES/NO?
...ier to manage. I can't help
but wonder what I would be giving up? I'd like to hear some "lessons
learned" from those who are doing it or decided, for whatever reason,
it's a bad idea.

Executing commands even if user hangs up.
Greetings,
I have a dialplan that calls the dictate application, but I want to do
some post-processing on the RAW file created. The post processing is
working fine as long as the dictation application exits gracefully, but
fails when the user simply hangs up.
How can I make sure the system() command is run regardless?
Example:
[test-dictation]
exten => 123,1,Dictate(/tmp/dictate)

Netscape profile scripts?
A while back there was a thread in which many people were discussing how
to make Netscape work with roaming profiles. There was some talk about
how this would require a script to modify the registry, etc. I just
talked to one of the NS programmers who said that the problem would be
fixed and even enhanced in a version 4.5. He didn't say whether the 4.5
code was going to be an internal or

Why does everyone seem to dislike *now?
Greetings,
Last week I began researching Asterisk for the first time. I did what most
noobs would do; downloaded an image that seemed simple and straightforward
and had some credibility (*now). I also downloaded the TFOT version 1 as
a guide.
As questions arose, I tossed a few out in #asterisckNOW channel..and found
it to be a ghost town. Only later did i start to ask a few

Shared folders
Several months back shared folders based on ACL's were discussed here,
and it was mentioned that support for these had been added to CVS.
Since the web site still says shared folders aren't implemented, I just
wanted to check and see if the shared folder code is just in CVS for a
future, post-1.0 release, or if the code ever made it into any of the
0.99x relases.
Thanks

Problems with samba shares locking in w2k ADS environment.
Greetings,
I have a Gentoo Linux machine running samba 3.0.7-r2
It's a member of a win2k ADS domain...all that seems to be working fine.
Problem:
When I share a directory on the Samba machine ADS members can see it,
browse it, and even create directories and small text files. However,
if I try to drop anything large or binary, it lock up the win2k client
for about 2 minutes then resets.

MS User Manager Permission Denied
Greetings everyone!
For starters, I'm still on the uphill side of the samba learning curve
so bare with me. I've just setup a test network in my office to see how
well I can replace a windows PDC with a samba solution (Mostly via
"Samba 3 by Example"). I do, however, have one issue that I can't seem
to figure out no matter how many hours I spend reading the archive
threads.

Strange display error.
...ket. It set itself up in framebuffer mode. Anyway, it is now
working, and seems to be behaving normally, except...
All my apps under Wine still work fine except the one that matters, the
jigsaw program.
Orbitron - a satellite tracking program from Poland - no change.
Faststone Image Viewer and a Canfield game - O.K.
The jigsaw program starts completely normally, the thumbnails are exactly as
they were when I described them last time I posted, but the playing area is
a solid colour with no pieces. It has the colour I set before - in fact,
one has different colours for the two screens, something th...

Shared Folders
I was just wondering if any thought has been given to shared folders and
how they might be implemented yet? True shared folders are compelling
enough to our organization that I've been looking into moving to Cyrus
from Courier, but transparent folder migration looks to be nearly
impossible for more than a handful of accounts... so that leaves me back
at hoping courier or dovecot can

Which Asterisk version to use?
Hi,
I'm a complete newbie to Asterisk and have been reading through
documentation and sites for the last couple of hours trying to understand
what to do to start my learning curve with Asterisk, and am very confused.
For starters, what is the difference btwn the 1.2 and 1.4 branches of
Asterisk? I can't seem to find a document that describes the changes.
Secondly, what is the best

1 BDC per 50 Clients? Can that really be true? (HOWTO)
In "the 500 user office" section of the Samba Guide, John Terpstra
lists some seriously disappointing numbers for Samba scalability. To
quote, "As a general rule, there should be at least one Backup Domain
Controller per 50 Windows network clients. The principle behind this
recommendation is the fact that correct operation of MS Windows clients
requires rapid network response

Fw: Errors for old server
[Sorry, I accidentally sent my previous message from the wrong e-mail account.]
We installed Samba on our server named "BANGKOK", workgroup "BANGKOK". I had it as the master browser. But then we ran into an error,. Apparently Windows 98 can't tolerate a computer and a workgroup with the same name. So we changed the computer named to "SBANGKOK".
But now, even a

Samba mount performance issues.
I recently discovered some strange behavior when listing a mounted
(windows2k share) directory with over 500 files in it. The 'ls' will
return blank three or four times before returning a list of files.
Mounted directories with fewer files do not have this issue.
I'm using ReiserFS
