How to configure tc with burstable bandwidth
Hello all, I have a qos system that is working fine with my present dedicated bandwidth. Now I need to move on to another ISP provider that gives me opportunity to burst my bandwidth when there is less contention. I want to incorporate the bursting advantage in to my script but do not know how. Please , can somebody help with what I need to do to make this possible ? Thanks. -Ibrahim

HTB burstable for 2 interface , how ?
Dear folks, Here goes my bandwidth manager: INTERNET | |eth0 202.14.41.1 BW.Manager | | | +----eth1----192.168.1.0/24 | +------eth2----192.168.2.0/24 Total incoming bandwidth to eth0 is 1024kbps should be shared to eth1 and eth2, which mean each get 512Kbps and burstable to 1024Kbps if other host is idle. My question is how do i apply HTB to these situation ? As far as i know eth1 and eth2 should be define as parent and cannot be as children. Performance Issues Degradation After 6 Calls
...it set up is the user calls into the system then dial out so I have 12 channels being used up but 6 active calls. Here are my specs Asterisk SVN-branch-1.4-r79142 on a i686 running Linux Fedora 6, Pentium 4 Hyper-Threading, 64 bit, 1GB of RAM, 80 GB Sata Drive, bandwidth 4 Mbps (1300GB/Throughput) burstable to 100Mbps. I am planning on upgrading to Intel Core 2 Duo with a clock speed of 1.8GHZand 2GB Ram. Does anyone have similar situation or advice? MFC requests for 6.3
...d like to see some of the Netgraph nodes which are new or which have seen extensive development brought in -- ng_nat and ng_car in particular. Bringing in the latest version of ng_nat would allow more flexible in-kernel NAT, while ng_car (which doesn't seem to be in 6-STABLE at all) would allow burstable traffic shaping -- something that DUMMYNET doesn't have. The latest version of mpd wouldn't be fully usable unless these and other Netgraph code that was developed for it are there.... --Brett Glass

bandwidth requirement
Hi Folks, have a question, on bandwidth. I want to run an asterisk server SIP to H323, g729. Calls arrive on sip/iax go to IVR get authenticated and egress through h323. So G729 license is only used during IVR and then it is pass through. I am collocating this server. Colo offer a monthly bandwidth quota. Lets say I want to do 100K minutes per month of VoIP calling at the beginning. What would

burst according to time limit??? (plz dont blame me for previous html,Outlook)
I was wondering if there is a queue with which I could have a regular rate limit at some kbits (say 256kbits) for my ethernet stations, but allow burstable sessions with a multiple limit (512 kbits) for a specific time (say 3 minutes). Of course, this is the same with having bursts of some Megabit buckets (measuring bits and not time), but for such big bursts i think it isn''t what i need... _______________________________________________...

IAX Channel Capacity
...ion for you all. I found a posting by J Todd where he gives BW utilization for various IAX2 codecs with trunking on. Now, the number of calls I can sustain over an IAX channel, obviously is going to be determined by the capacity and state of the physical pipe. Typically, here in the office I have a burstable T1. The other office has a CIR of 762kbps or such. At the house I have ADSL with 128kbps uplink. At some number of calls, the channel will collapse. With a PRI, that's not a problem. Once all my T1 channels are busy, I get an unavailble, and I can inform the caller or take other action. With a...

Limiting bandwidth usage - where to begin
Hi, I am very new in this list.. I want each of my internet users to be limited in his/her usage of bandwidth. The limitation will be done in my squid (linux) box, as they all have to be authenticated by squid before going to the internet jungle.. Then anybody here could tell me where to begin to do such thing ? Any idea/solution would be very appreciated TIA regards, aqil

...o Digium, whatever $$$ they want for the card. I am EVENTUALLY going to need it anyways, so I dont mind prepaying wheather or not it is available today! My knowledge of their product offering is no different than yours. But I fully intend on purchasing it :)! We are starting off with a 100Mbps burstable bandwith, though exspensive to start, after 30 days of usage, my bandwidth costs will look like $25K. Going off the top of head for a Sangoma DS3 Card @ $6000 per card, If I got 2 of them for $12,000 total, I eliminate, almost, that $25,000 per month bandwidth cost to me. So if Digiums DS3 Channe...

How to limit per tcp session ?
Dear folks, I ve fully read lartc.txt document to make sure my question still unexplained in that document. I want to limit per tcp session, how to do that with HTB or CBQ ? Inside lartc.txt, there is an example for full NAT QoS solution, but thats not what i meant. Thanks.. bandwith issues, ISP hosting services, etc
I am looking into supporting around 20 SIP clients (ATAs, IP softphones, etc) distributed in around 10 different end points (in South America). For the most part they all have narrow band connections 64kpbs, 128 at most and I?d like to use g729 all around (don?t have too many alternatives) To start with, I will have one * with no gateway to the PSTN and eventually a few * boxes with termination

ZIL SSD performance testing... -IOzone works great, others not so great
Hi folks, I would appreciate it if someone can help me understand some weird results I''m seeing with trying to do performance testing with an SSD offloaded ZIL. I''m attempting to improve my infrastructure''s burstable write capacity (ZFS based WebDav servers), and naturally I''m looking at implementing SSD based ZIL devices. I have a test machine with the crummiest hard drive I can find installed in it, Quantum Fireball ATA-100 4500RPM 128K cache, and an Intel X25-E 32gig SSD drive. I''m tryi...

Asterisk and Monwall - comments
Just got a net4501 board, installed cf card/Monowall. Does anyone have a monowall firewall with Asterisk behind it, any problems, can external SIP phones work? What firewall rules are you using? Chris Mason Int: (305) 704-7249 Fax: (815)301-9759

Moving from DSL to T1
I work in a small office and have fallen into the role of network support based on knowing enough about networking to be dangerous. Our office is moving from DSL to a T1. Were using Asterisk as our PBX and I'm looking for hints or resources that might help me make the transition as error free as possible. Are there well known gotchas that I shoud be aware of? Thanks in advance, Richard

...in a top notch data center. I''ll be racking a layer 2 managed switch (a Dell PowerConnect 5224), four of my own servers (1U Opteron servers, single socket, dual core, dual NIC), as well 2 servers for 2 friends who will be subleasing from me. The package includes 6Mbps of bandwidth, burstable to 100Mbps. Bandwidth is tracked with 5-min samples, and as long as my 95th percentile is less than 6Mbps each month, there is no extra charge for bandwidth. I would like to use tc bandwidth shaping so that I can 1) ensure that I never have to pay for extra bandwidth in any month 2) be able...

tc does''nt limit the bandwidth!
Hi, good people! I wanted to limit my 4 customers to 144, 16, 32, and 32kbps. I used the following tc commands BUT IT FAILED TO LIMIT each and everyone of them to its bandwidth. What am I doing wrong: My tc scripts are: tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 1 #Classes# tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 9bps ceil 9bps #Default
