Major samba load caused by re-reading of the configuration file
We're running samba-2.2.3a-6 from the redhat 7.3 distribution.
Periodically we see a massive load on our server which then quickly goes
away. I've spent some time trying to diagnose where the problem is and
it appears to be caused by every smb process on the machine (all 360 of
them) re-reading the config file at the same moment.
THe problem is I cannot see why this should happen and

X100P Ireland Red Alarm (AR Tarzi)
Ahhh this could be my problem! I just checked which
wires on the RJ11 cable had a voltage across them and
it was the yellow and green (3 & 4?). From what
someone posted the other day it's supposed to be
Bumble Bee and Christmas Tree.
I did have to get a technician out to fix my line when
it was first installed because it was dead. Maybe he
wired it up incorrectly or maybe they just do it

PATCH: Performance improvement for parameterised include path names
I posted last week regarding a bug in the way that smb was re-reading
our config files every 60 seconds even though the files were not
changing.
As a result we had 396 smbd processes trying to read three files at the
same moment with the obvious load average.
The reason that all the smbd's were running at the same moment is
because the smbd's read the config files every 60 seconds

How do you "re-attach" a 3 disk RAIDZ array to a new OS installation?
Hi,
I''m completely new to Solaris, but have managed to bumble through installing it to a single disk, creating an additional 3 disk RAIDZ array and then copying over data from a separate NTFS formatted disk onto the array using NTFS-3G.
However, the single disk that was used for the OS installation has since died (it was very old) and I have had to reinstall 2008.11 from scratch onto a

general question about plotting multiple regression results
Hi all,
I have been bumbling around with r for years now and still havent come up
with a solution for plotting reliable graphs of relationships from a
linear regression.
Here is an example illustrating my problem
1.I do a linear regression as follows
summary(lm(n.day13~n.day1+ffemale.yell+fmale.yell+fmale.chroma,data=surv))...

Syslinux 2.00 build problems on redhat 8.0
...ted
search of the mail archives but couldn't find anything, although I
did find a couple of posts elsewhere of people having similar trouble
with ppmtolss16.
I'm having a few build problems on redhat 8.0, the first failure
in the build is a fatal error from findpatch.pl early in the build.
Bumbling through that problem there were a couple of other failures.
It looks like all of the problems are related to the way perl is
built on redhat 8.0 to handle unicode strings. This screws up the perl
scripts in the build that are munging binary files.
So, my fix is to patch the following scripts:...

Syncing sysvol -> samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset?
...very few months hasn't
helped me either :(
My most detailed attempt at tracking down the issue was in September
2016 (wow! time really does fly..!)
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-September/203261.html
but I didn't get to the bottom of it then, either.
For now I'm basically bumbling along without working GPOs :(

(Yet another) Music on hold problemand another...
Type 'mpg123' at the Linux CL. (no quotes)
If the version is anything other than 59r, you problem is solved.
Go to the Wiki and search for Music On Hold.
Do the install of version 59r ONLY as described in the docs.
Cheers,
Wiley

ChanIsAvail for IAX not working again/still? AKA Redundant IAX connections not working
Hi -
I'm running CVS-HEAD from 2005-08-11 20:17:17 UTC, and I'm trying to
set up some redundancy on IAX connections between locations. I have
two IAX peers set up that work correctly by themselves: "ast551-out"
and "ast551-out-backup":
[ast551-out]
type=peer
secret=secret
username=ast551
host=X.X.X.X
qualify=1000
disallow=all
allow=gsm
allow=ulaw
trunk=no

I don't believe I've made any changes to the configuration I've been
running happily for about 2 months. It's an *@home 0.7 setup with a
Sipura 3K providing the FXS & FXO ports. I've got a Draytek Vigor 2900VG
providing routing and QOS.
In my bumbling way I've tried changing the codec to ilbc - no
difference. Rebooted about 5 times. Removed the trunk and reconfigured.
Tried different extensions. All to no avail.

Multi default gateway and 2.4.30
Hi
I have just moved my firewall from a 2.6 debian machine to a 2.4.30
openwrt (linksys wrt54gs) box.
I orginially had this working with 2 isp, 1 cable 1 adsl and dyndns.
Now when i have moved to 2.4.30 I am having problems. Everything else
is working fine except when I DNAT packets from the firewall to an
internal address, ie my web browser is inside so I DNAT from the
external IP to the

One of my accounts was having login failures when trying to send mail, but was able to check mail.
I tried everything I could think of to see what the issue might be, but eventually went in and reset the password in the sql database (I knew the password, so I reset it to the same password).
{SHA256-CRYPT}$5$VuS?
{SHA256-CRYPT}$5$VI7?
So the password was updated properly.

Skype purchased by Ebay 2.6 Billion
Good news for service providers in my opinion, Ebay will likely start
alienating Skype users like they did with Paypal users.
"SkypeSucks.com" domain already taken, shucks....
