cor() btwn columns in two matrices - no complete element pairs
...at1[,i], mat2[,i], use="complete.obs") :
no complete element pairs
Is there something I'm not including in the 'cor' parentheses? I apologise
for not including the true original data frames.
Thanks,

Where should method shared btwn controllers go?
I have a method I would like multiple controllers to share. Where does
it belong?
I have it in a file in lib for the moment. It seems it should be here or
in controller/application.rb.
Thanks in advance.

several common sub-axes within multiple plot area
Dear List,
I'd really appreciate tip's or code demonstrating how i can achieve some
common axis labels integrated into a multiple plot.
In my example (below), i'm trying to achieve:
-a single "Results 1 (Int)" centered & btwn row 1 and row 2;
-a single "Results 2 (Int)" centered & btwn row 2 and row 3; and,
-a single "Results 3 (Int)" centered at the bottom, ie., below row 3.
I played with mtext() and par(oma=... per this post-

Which Asterisk version to use?
Hi,
I'm a complete newbie to Asterisk and have been reading through
documentation and sites for the last couple of hours trying to understand
what to do to start my learning curve with Asterisk, and am very confused.
For starters, what is the difference btwn the 1.2 and 1.4 branches of
Asterisk? I can't seem to find a document that describes the changes.
Secondly, what is the best way to start off with Asterisk? Should I install
a Linux distro from scratch and then install Asterisk on top of that, start
with AsteriskNOW and go from there, or...

Upgrade from 1.00 to 1.0.1
Hi,
I'm getting a bunch of errors since I upgraded to 1.0.0. I understand
now that some of them are bug related to release 1.0.0. I'm about to
upgrade to 1.0.1.
Does anyone know if there are changes in the config file btwn these to
versions?
Also, what is the best way to do the upgrade? Can I just run
./configure : make : make install : killlall -HUP dovetcot?
Best Regards - Jon

IPSEC btwn stable and Linksys BEFVP41 stopped working.
Hi,
I have been using IPsec to communicate between a laptop that tracks
-stable and a Linksys BEFVP41 router.
I only use it infrequently, but it's been working great. My setup is
as described in http://grapeape.alerce.com/linksys-ipsec/article.html
(which I am planning to submit to the handbook when it's done).
I'm no longer able to make an ipsec connection, and I can't put my

.NET programs
Hello,
How can I get programs written using .NET 2.0 to work in WINE? I've
read online about some sort of (seems unstable) bridging btwn WINE and
MONO. I installed MONO, but couldn't figure out how to tell WINE to use
it. I looked for tutorials, but couldn't find any. Is there any other
solutions (I prefer not to have to install the official .NET 2.0)?

matlab eigs function in R
Hello
Does anybody know how one can compute d largest eigenvalues/eigenvectors in
R, like in MATLAB eigs function ? eigen function computes all
eigenvectors/eigenvalues, and they are slightly different than those
generated by matlab eigs.
Thanks in advance

redoing error causes backup file failure on target
...like rsync 2.5.4 vs 26 has a bug when the target file is backed
up with a suffix. For a large 1 GB file transfer, an error "redoing"
appeared in the debug. In other words, when you see redoing in your debug
expect the backup not to have worked correctly. I didn't see this problem
btwn naxpap01 and rwxp25l1 just btwn rwxp25l1 and naxp18l1. I'm pulling
the code from source to target.
In this example, 4,10,11 were all marked as redoing this created a AccChkpt.gz.r_bck the same as source and target. In other
words, we lost our n-1 backed up file AccChkpt.gz for acc.4,10, and...

Linux domain member server: Win group does not map to UNIX group

The PDC makes use of LDAP groups/users available to it without any

The PDC also currently houses users' nethomes, which we share out.
Anything created by a user under Windows in their homedir has correct

Feedback and help in porting the NUT sysV init script to upstart
...e replacement-initscripts
are unreachable (see below) and far too basic for being really helpful!
if you want a massive adoption, provide some "real world" examples for
upstreams, really ;-)
so, a mutual help in getting the NUT init script ported would both help you
and me. good deal ;-)
btwn I've included the upstart "support" in NUT 2.4 roadmap.
I've attached the original Debian NUT script, along with a lazy and drafty
port attempt.
note that I'm currently giving some reflexion cycles on optimizing NUT
integration wrt init (ex: no need to clean stop daemons upon...

Using link_to with an image tag & link text
Hi ,
I was trying to use link_to along with image_tag
to setup a link that would open in an external window.
But I was unable to make a link using both text & an image
So my current workaround looks like this inside a partial
where link is http://foo.com & text would be descriptive

getElementsBySelector broken in IE
Hi all:
getElementsBySelector appears to be broken in 1.5 final on IE.
getElementsBySelector works as expected in FF 1.5 final and also it
works correctly in IE in 1.5 RC2.
Here''s my simple code fragment:
var els = element.getElementsBySelector(''[recnum]'');
The variable els is undefined in 1.5 final on IE.

virtio PCI on KVM without IO BARs
OK we talked about this a while ago, here's
a summary and some proposals:
At the moment, virtio PCI uses IO BARs for all accesses.
The reason for IO use is the cost of different VM exit types
of transactions and their emulation on KVM on x86
(it would be trivial to use memory BARs on non x86 platforms
if they don't have PIO).
Example benchmark (cycles per transaction):
