Diff btw percentile and quantile
To calculate Percentile for a set of observations Excel has percentile() function. R function quantile() does the same thing. Is there any significant difference btw percentile and quantile? Huge difference btw system time and elapsed time
Hi all, I got this time for my code, > proc.time()-pt user system elapsed 132541.743 0.004 132533.526 As you can see, there is huge difference btw elapsed time and system time. Does that mean lots of I/O? Or some bad coding? Thanks, Libo [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

GrandStream Budgetone Phone & DHCP & General Observations
...it is released It turn's out that these phones have a few issue in 1.0.3.81 firmware. The phone may stop transmitting packets if configured with DHCP, if DHCP is being provided by certain devices. Netopia routers have been confirmed in this category. It turns out that there is some differences btw the implementation of DHCP btw different vendor and this is causing the phone to loose it default route and stop transmitting packets approx 15mins after the phone receives it's lease after reboot. GrandStream says this will be fixed in the next release. Other Grandstream observations: In man...

pxelinux - loading vmlinuz and initrd.gz
Greetings, Hopefully a quick question.. I have been experimenting with pxelinux and have noticed the following, when using initrd.gz - vmlinuz needs to exist 'tftpboot' directory, else I get an error from pxelinux. eg. kernel/vmlinuz - vmlinux also needs to exist in initrd.gz (in the same relative path eg. kernel/vmlinuz) else Linux is not booted. beginners question concerning security
...''m looking for a virtaul server system to be used by diffrent entities. As I heard from other solutions there are often (at least small) security problems. Now I would like to know if it''s (at least theoretical possible) that one user from domU_a can access domU_b or even dom0. Btw, what makes the difference between dom0 and domU? Any hint would be apprecitated.. btw (I already read tfm :-)) cheers _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Sorry to those of you that have received duplicates of my messages over the easter weekend. I had subscribed to the nntp server of my isp (pipex uk) and searched for "samba" it showed a few hits but "gmane.network.samba.general" showed as containing no posts but "mailing.unix.samba" showed a bit more than 20'000 so I subscribed to that and sent a slurr of

Advice on compiling R using Intel Compilers? Btw: -c99 is deprecated

First let me explain a few things I did: 1: Download & Install all the Intel Compilers (as well as the Intel Math Kernel Library) (All defaults) 2: Set up my environment variables in profile.d, using the handy

[LLVMdev] Performance regression on ARM
> Chandler’s complex arithmetic changes are also in the range: r219557 in clang. We saw it change the code in mandel-2 significantly. mandel-2 is broken on hard FP ABI systems, btw.
