Optimal platform for R
...t to know: 1) if I run R under Windows, does having a
dual-processor machine help speed things up? And 2) is it still true
that R performs about as well under Windows as Linux?
Thanks,

patch: properly zeroing fd_set in clientloop
Hello all,
This is a problem and patch reported to Red Hat Bugzilla by
Jonathan Kamens <jik at kamens.brookline.ma.us>. I'm just acting as a relay
:-)
jik has experienced some weird crashes relating to window size changes or
some similar activity. These are rather hard to trace.
Problem was fixed by patching clientloop, where fd_set structures appear
to be improperly zeroed (bytes vs bits).

ReplayPlot, limited to single session for RecordPlot()
...table for eloading into R. Regenerating these
from data
each time is an unnecessary waste of time as far as I can tell. Its hard
to see why the developers did this.

R. I would like to work on fixing this if it a fix is possible. Are there
any posts about this? Who would know

Support for the "none" cipher, i.e., for unencrypted SSH connections,
should be restored.
I tested the data transfer speed when using SSH with the arcfour cipher
between two servers on a gigabit LAN with 2.4GHz CPUs. The transfer
speed turns out to be around 30MB/s.
30MB/s is f...

Am I missing something? My script is below. I am using Debian, tried
with kernel 2.6.19 (my compilation) or debian''s one (2.6.18-3-486),

"UPS myups@localhost is unavailable" from upsmon
Greetings,
I imagine this question must have been answered previously on the
list, but I can't search for the answer because the archives are gone.
Executive summary: I am trying to install and configure nut 2.0.1 on
Fedora Core. I have a SmartUPS Pro plugged into a USB port. Upsmon
is logging "UPS myups@localhost is unavailable" to syslog and via wall
when it starts up and

rsync 2.5.4 (probably 2.5.5 too) server handles SIGPIPE very poorly
(I am not on the rsync mailing list, so if you send a response to this
message to the list, please be sure to CC me.)
I first reported this bug go Red Hat in
<URL:https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=65350>.
If you run rsync with a subshell through ssh.com's ssh and sshd and
then kill the client with ctrl-C, the rsync server process running on
the remote machine grows
