Polycom 501 Phones Rebooting
Hello,
At one of our locations, we have started to see Polycom 501s
(running 1.6.7 firmware) randomly reboot. We have taken packet traces of the
phones to determine if there is something odd in the Layer 2 or 3 of the
network that might cause it, and have not seen anything strange. There are
no errors on the ports. This appears to be affecting POE powered as well as
AC powered phones. The Polycom

Dialstatus Oddity in 1.2
...and I'm running into something that I'd like some feedback on.
Basically, it appears that if you place a call to an IAX2 peer that
refuses the connection, or is unavailable, a NOANSWER dialstatus is
returned.
Example:
-- Executing Macro("IAX2/cubix-19", "nocdial|IAX2/boehnlein@pbx1/1216410XXXX") in new stack
-- Executing Dial("IAX2/cubix-19", "IAX2/boehnlein@pbx1/1216410XXXX|30") in new stack
-- Called boehnlein@pbx1/1216410XXXX

GrandStream 1.0.4.55 Firmware
Hello,
Anyone using the 1.0.4.55 firmware release with any success? I
have had my Budgetone running 1.0.4.50 for about a month and a half now
with no problems whatsoever, and I am a little leary about upgrading.

[Asterisk-Dev] Memory Leak in Stable?
Hello,
I have a client that has a fairly small installation (20 SIP
Phones) that is running Stable. Asterisk appears to be consuming large
quantities of memory, and growing uncontrollably to the point where after
about 6 weeks the box starts to swap itself to death. I've been keeping my
eye on it today, and in the last 12 hours, it has grown by about 8
megabytes, and there has been

Asterisk at ISPcon
Digium is sending a couple of Asterisk representatives to ISPcon next
week in Baltimore: Greg Boehnlein (author of AstWind) and Brian Capouch
(professor at St. Joseph's College and author of an upcoming Asterisk
book by Prentice-Hall). We will also have a 10 x 10' booth there
dedicated to Asterisk.
*Greg and Brian need some help manning the booth.* If you have a

Pictures of the Digium booth at ISPCon 2005
Hello everyone,
Even though a lot of it was a bit last minute, several of us from the
commnunity made it to Baltimore to help Digium with their booth at
ISPCon. It was a great time.
Gregory Boehnlein, Brian Capouch, Christian Savinovich, Kristian
Kielhofner (me), and John Todd (not pictured) were there (as well as
others), and some pictures were taken (the up close ones of me were very
unfortunate) :).
I was there demoing AstLinux on the Soekris Net4801, and Brian Capouch
was showing off...

ICD Features
Following up on a thread that I started about Agents/Queue and
acknowledging calls before bridging them...
Greg Boehnlein said that he was putting his efforts into ICD.
I downloaded and installed ICD, and I can get simple queue and agent
stuff working fine, and see that this new design is much cleaner and
more powerful.
That said, in the sample conf files, the "acknowledge_call" field is
labeled as &quo...

TE405P w/ Intel SE7210TP1_E Motherboard
Hello,
I'm looking at building a couple new PRI Gateway boxes using
TE405P cards, and was wondering if anyone has had any experiences (good or
bad) with the Intel SE7210TP1_E motherboards from Intel. General Technics
builds some really nice (and cost effective) 1U servers based on the
board:

Updated Patch to chan_agent.c for PREACKANNOUNCE
First, many thanks to Greg Boehnlein for his patch to chan_agent.c
for adding a "preackannounce" option.
I am running CVS HEAD from 2005/07/31, and the patch failed in a
few hunks, since the code was refactored to add in some CASE
statements where there were compound if statements before.
Anyway, I have successfully update...

Polycom IP 500 Dial Issues
Hello,
I have a mixture of Polycom SP IP 500 and 300 phones. I have been
reading through the administration manual to try and solve this problem,
but I do not seem to be able to find the answers to my question. I figured
I would ask here and see if anyone has some suggestions.
The problem is kind of annoying. After dialing 4 digits, the phone seems
to pause and miss the 5th digit, often

Debian Unstable Claims Asterisk 1.0-1
Howdy,
I just did an "apt-get dist-upgrade" on my Debian unstable box,
and noticed that the Asterisk version appears to be 1.0-1 in the unstable
tree. I KNOW that 1.0 hasn't been released yet, so I am wondering who is
responsible for the Debian packages? This will be VERY VERY confusing for
people and it should be corrected ASAP.

Centos 4.3 Issues
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there is successfully running
Asterisk 1.2 svn w/ Centos 4.3. I had an experience over the last two
weeks that has me scratching my head and muttering strange things in the
wee hours of the morning. I am going to try and be as descriptive as my
brain will allow right now, but if there is something that I do not cover,
please do not hesitate to ask and

The Smallest Asterisk Server Ever?
Hello all,
Saturday night, after a couple of shots of bourbon, I realized
that I had an old PC sitting in the garage that I could use as an Asterisk
gateway if I just blew the dust off it and reloaded it with a modern Linux
distribution. In my characteristically impulsive manner, I grabbed it and
started cleaning it up so that I could put it in my office without my wife
having a fit.

1.4 SIP Jitter Buffer
Hello,
I'm running into a few situations on lossy network links where a SIP
jitter buffer w/ some PLC would be helpful. My main TDM gateways are running
1.2 (which is solid, stable, reliable and very very very well behaved when
you know it's limitations), but I'm considering upgrading them before the
end of the year to 1.4. Two of the main reasons that I would do this are
