Newer Matrix Factorization Techniques
...they really are implementing very different
algorithms that perform better.
Here are is question: Is there a repository in the R-world somewhere
that lists new implementations of an algorithm like say robust PCA ?
Thanks in advance,
Igor.

Merci.

PCA sensitive to outliers?
Hi all,
I found that the PCA gave chaotic results when there are big changes in a
few data points.
Are there "improved" versions of PCA in R that can help with this problem?
Please give me some pointers...
Thank you!

Use of argument '...'
Dear R list,
I've read the function writing sections on both "An introduction to R" and "R language Definition" manuals but still don't understand why the following gives an error message:
fun <- function(x, ...) x + y
fun(1, y=2)
I get:
Error in fun(1, y = 2) : object "y" not found
I'd appreciate any help in understanding this.

[PATCH] IOMMU: don't disable bus mastering on faults for devices used by Xen or Dom0
Under the assumption that in these cases recurring faults aren''t a
security issue and it can be expected that the drivers there are going
to try to take care of the problem.

[EXT] Initializing vector and matrices
Hello Eik:
Thanks. I do not need to sample. Essentially, I have a do loop which
produces 24 vectors of length of some length (say k=300) and 24 matrices
of 300x300. Then, I simply need to? take the averages of these 24
vectors and matrices:
x=(x1+x2+...+x24)/k
y=(y1+y2+...+y24)/k
I am just looking for ways to do this in a do loop, which requires
initialization (to 0's) of x and y. My

Initializing vector and matrices
Is there as way to initialize a vector (matrix) with an unknown length
(dimension)? NULL does not seem to work. The lines below work with a
vector of length 4 and a matrix of 4 x 4. What if I do not know
initially the length/dimension of the vector/matrix?
All I want is to add up (accumulate)? the vector and matrix as I go
through the loop.
Or, are there other ways to accumulate such vectors

Resuming the discussion of establishing an LLVM code of conduct
Greetings all,
This has come up a few times, and I would like to resume the effort to
establish an LLVM code of conduct.
First and foremost, many thanks to Philip Reames who sat down with me
several months ago and worked through a number of suggestions that I've
tried to incorporate into an updated patch with the draft text:

I think his updates plus a few

Help - Firewall/Router Configuration

ProFTPD (Possible future use); Postfix; ClamAV; MailScanner; DoveCot;
SquirrelMail (Possible future use).
BACKGROUND:
I have been assigned to build a replacement firewall/router/gateway for my
company. I have been pretty much been given carte blanche to do what I want
here, but with a few suggestions on what my boss wants to see happen. My
boss built the current set-up and it has worked well, and I am still
relatively new to the company and will humbly admit a relatively
inexperienced sysadmin. I do however a good grounding in networking,

Time for some all time pimpage folks.
Me and Matt Pelletier wrote a small PDF book on Mongrel entitled: "Mongrel: Serving, Deploying, and Extending Your Ruby Applications" since we really wanted you to know what it was about. It''s published by Addison Wesley Professional, has just over 100 pages of goodness, and is available for $14.99 at:
