I am booting 5.3 on an a770 biostar motherboard THe machine boots, I get the prompt from the DVD I hit return and the screen says kernel alive but it never gets past that. So, I got Quickbooks 2008 working in the latest WINE, and Ubuntu 11.04. Problems happen when I try and open an existing company file. It wants to update, and then updating fails, and then the whole shebang fails to load after that. Ok, Well I have narrowed it down to my mother board. It is a Biostar mother board with an NForce2 chipset. I have the Nvidia driver working on my home machine which is and Asus board with an NForce chipset running CentOS-3 and the Nvidia driver works fine. It has to be the NForce2 Chipset that is no good. Hi, All the reviews for the AMD 890fx chipset reported that it supports IOMMU v1.2. But I cannot find any mention of that on AMD site. Does 890fx support IOMMU? Do 890fx motherboards with IOMMU exist? Does Xen support 890fx? I have just bought Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which runs beautifully on my XP install, but on my ubuntu9.04-wine/stable install it runs very very very jerkily. Unreal tornaument works better in wine thanit does on windows so yeah. And ideas how to improve the performance? Ive done the directx registry edits, not much of a change.
