survreg with gamma distribution: re-post
...v(minage, maxage, censorcode, type =
>"interval")~1, dist = "gamma")
At least one of the R-help listserver comments mentioned using
survreg.distributions to customise a gamma distribution, but I can't
figure out how to make this work with the resources (intellectual and
bibliographical!) that I have available.

Sweave and bibliographies
I added a bibliographic reference to one of my .Rnw documents, to wit:
\begin{thebibliography}{9}
\bibitem{Jose} Jos{\'{e}} C. Pinheiro and Douglas M. Bates,
\emph{Mixed-Effects Models in S and S-PLUS},
Springer, 2000.
\end{thebibliography}
just before the \end{document}.
When I run Sweave on the result these lines disappear without a trace.
Is this intentional?
Subquestion: is

thought someone here might know:
how would I go about nominating my book
(Ecological Models and Data in R, Princeton
University Press 2008) for inclusion
in the R books page ... ? I can supply
bibliographic data, blurb etc. ...
cheers

A concrete type I/III Sum of square problem
Hi R-help members,
I have read a lot in the Archive about the "Type I" vs "Type III" sum
of square. I think I have read confusing post so
I want to have a clear idea of the problem.
Here is an example.
I have 3 groups of subjects of unequal sample size (G1 (n=7), G2
(n=7), G3 (n=4)).
for Each subject I have 4 measures corresponding to the crossing of
2 factor (A & B)

Hitting Files per Directory Limits with Ferret?
Hey all!
We''ve been using Ferret to great success these past six months. But
recently we''ved tried adding many new ContentItems (only thing being
index by Ferret at the moment), and things came crashing to a halt.
ferret gem: 0.10.9
acts_as_ferret plugin (not sure which version)
How we''re using the plugin:

Publication : CERE LLVM Based Codelet Extractor and REplayer
Hello,
We have published two papers which build upon the LLVM
Compiler Infrastructure. Would it be possible to include them in the
LLVM related publications at http://llvm.org/pubs/ ?
I attach below
the bibliographic references:

Licence for datasets in a R-package
Dear List,
I am building a R package which collects ecological data about plant
species from both remote (web) databases and locally stored rda files
(datasets): these "local rda files" are derived from publicly available
databases for which no "official" licenses are provided; I was told by the
creators of these databases that users can use such data provided that the

Hosting a R Graph Gallery?
Dear R users,
Following some of the recent questions and discussions about the R
plotting abilities, it occurred to me again that it would be very
valuable to have an R graph gallery.
Eric Lecoutre made a very nice example in:
http://www.stat.ucl.ac.be/ISpersonnel/lecoutre/stats/fichiers/_gallery.pdf
It would be very useful to many beginners, but probably also advanced
users of R, to have an

standard-izing extended markdown
Hello!
On the markdown site it is written: "Markdown?s syntax is intended for
one purpose: to be used as a format for writing for the web.", although
recently I moved from Emacs Muse to Markdown markup for writing my study
notes and plan to use it for writing technical documentation as well.
However, in order to be able to use the features I had in Muse, I write
