lowpass option (Was: RE: channel coupling in rc2)
I would very much like a lowpass option because for FM radio broadcasting I
don't want to encode frequencies above 15khz. I'm waiting for this option
before switching to ogg from mp3(lame).

Re: FhG $15k minimum
Doesn't the GPL license forbid the codec from being incorporated in
commercial products? Or at least have to provide their source for free? If
this is the case then I doubt commercial game makers will be interested.
Maybe the licence could be changed to allow the decoder to be incorporated
in commercial products providing they pay a minimal amount and/or be forced
to advertise the fact that

Lowpass filter option required
I mentioned many months back that I intend to switch to Ogg/Vorbis from
MP3/LAME once the final version is out but I need to have an adjustable
lowpass filter option similar to LAME's. If this isn't done yet, could you
please add it to your list for OggEnc. Specifically I need to cut all
frequencies above 17khz.
Thanks,
Ross.

Thanks for your reply.
So there is no data block size anywhere. In that case I will have to at
least subtract the size of any comments since it could be considerable. Can
you please help with determining the size of the comment header

No thanks. Just improve the filters to detect extended characters.

Length of song calculation
Hello Developers
I'm writing a playlist creator app for radio stations (in Delphi) which
supports WAV & MP3 files & I would like to add OGG support. All I need is
the ability to read the length of the track from the file header. The
documentation on the website is beyond me. I would rather not include a
bulky library that does everything else. Does anyone have any Delphi code

comment header specification
I'm writing my own comment reader by directly reading the ogg files (ie.
not using the existing library). There is something that seems odd to
me. The 32-bit number specifying the length of the next comment is
sometimes wrong on large multi-line comments.
I have a test OGG here with a lot of text in a comment tag. The comment
size field says 9121, however, the actual comment size is 9171

It's in Delphi 5. I will make the source code available when I'm happy with
it, if anyone wants it.

Initially I've designed the interface for the 95% of users who just want
something very simple and can see the tags they are interested in on one

I've been looking for one for many months but couldn't find one with hifi
quality recording/encoding. I'm about to purchase a portable Minidisc
recorder for recording intervews.

What kind of Ogg Vorbis-services you would like to h ave?
I know this is a little OT for the list and blatent advertising but
inkeeping with the thread topic, I've just finished a Windows playlist
generator for internet/radio stations. Suitable for highly automated
situations. Features anti-song repeat & anti-artist repeat options. No
song maintenance required. Works on a rotation or "clock" basis. Produces

UTF-8 & Hebrew
Sorry if this is offtopic.
My Win32 comment editor uses a routine of my own to read comments
directly from OGG files but uses vorbiscomment.exe to write comments.
I've implemented a UTF-8 function which I found on the internet to
decode UTF-8. It appears to be working fine for most European
characters, however, I have a Russian user using WinXP who is entering
Hebrew characters such as

More on CD anti-copying techniques
Some CDs will include all the songs encoded with Windows Media, removing the
the need for ripping. Sounds like it has the potential to stomp out
competition from other formats such as MP3 & OGG.
