bug in syslinux 6.01 with gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L
Hello, I didn't try 6.02-pre15, I will do and I will post the results, my keyboard is a PS/2 model, the "legacy USB storage option" is enabled, I tried also an USB keyboard but there is no change, so it's not a keyboard problem, it probably something in syslinux ( ldlinux.sys ? ) who create a serious bug with my motherboard, I tried also with a USB HDD ( not a flash drive )

Manually installing syslinux?
I am wondering if it is possible to install syslinux manually, without the actual syslinux utility. Basically I have a little linux distro that uses syslinux. I have an automated upgrade system that also updates the bootloader before rebooting. I currently compile syslinux (and mtools) statically, so that the new syslinux will not depend on any libraries on the old software version (since they

bad identification of the CPU pentium dual core ( penryn instead of core2 )
lvm 3.7.0 treats pentium dual core ( cpu family 6 model 23 ) as "penryn" cpu, which triggers a serious bug : - crashs in openGL programs when llvm is used by mesa package, llvm will produces binary code with SSE4 instructions, which is not compatible with pentium dual core, because this CPU doesn't support SSE4 instructions ( bad cpu opcodes ), with llvm 3.6.2 this bug doesn't

calling stats::optim from Rcpp causes memory leak
...double mu = opt_results[0]; // Return estimated values return mu; } R code: repeat{ leak(0, 1) } When I look at my task manager, the MB usage under Rstudio R Session is steadily increasing (which doesn't happen if I use any other function that just returns a value). interpreting error estimate in SEM
hi, I'm using the sem package, and I want to make sure I'm interpreting the output correctly. Here is an excerpt of my output. When I report the MWD error, should I say that 59% of the variation in MWD is not explained by the model, or that 59% of the variation is explained, or something entirely different. Parameter Estimates Estimate Std Error z value Pr(>|z|)

kerberos auth WITHOUT AD
I find lots of documentation on getting samba to bind to active directory with kerberos auth, but I cannot seem to find any docs describing using a "standard" kerberos setup. We are using a Sun One directory server, which our boxes bind to for regular authentication (ssh, email, apache, etc all use this auth). Does anyone have any docs referencing using kerberos in a non-AD setup? I

winbind with ports 445/139 blocked
I have an annoying problem I'm hoping to get some guidance on. I am able to use winbind with our local domain, however it does not work with a remote trusted domain (it works fine for a local trusted domain). >From the looks of things, winbind requires port 445 or 139 to be open to the remote domain controllers, which it is not. Apparently these ports are not required for the MS Windows

new intrusion detection system
Hello to all, I have implemented a new type of intrusion detection system for my Master thesis. I would like to announce this information, in case anyone would be interested in this research. The IDS system is designed as a kernel module for FreeBSD 5.2. It is inspired by the SpamAssassin program, which detects spam by applying a set of tests to every email message and counting a sum of

Secondary DC as fileserver within VirtualBox
Hi, I setup a secondary DC to server as a fileserver for testing purposes. The DC (DCBACKUP) in question runs on top of a Fedora 21 x64 with VirtualBox. The DC OS also runs Fedora 21 x64.
