two lines in axis title combined with 'substitute' command
Hello, I want to have the x-axis title of my plot in 2 lines, centered: experiment 1: log2(Ratio H/L) I know that in principle that works with '\n'. However, I am also using the 'substitute' command for my axis title. However, it does not make a new line. What I have so far: logbase <- 2 test <- "bait" cellline <- "cellline" plot(

nlme for groupedData with inner and outer factors
Hello, I am having trouble specifying a suitable nlme model. My data structure is described by gd <- groupedData(ppath ~ lcut | exp, outer = ~ bait, inner = ~ weight, data = d) i.e. the response (ppath) of several subjects (sub) was measured at levels of a continuous variable (lcut). Subjects were given either of one level of a factor (bait), and all subjects were measured at two levels

removing data randomly based on previous observations
Hello, I have a dataset which contains multiple trap pulls over the course of a fishing season. Each trap was baited and then returned to the water to be pulled again. I am trying to remove that bait from the catch observed on the next pull (the bait is the same as the catch, lobster). The traps have been baited differently throughout the season. I would like to randomly remove two lobsters

Sequencing control with edit method in CRUD examples
I have been playing with the cookbook type of tutorials building a fish tournament scoring piece and am having a bit of a problem with a DB field called "points" in my "catch" table that is not input by the user but is calulated based on a "size" field that is input by the user. I have the following in my catch_controller.db def new @catch = Catch.new @fish =

Should List be Moderated?
In light of recent flame baits and advertisements sent to the list, I would like to seek opinions of list members on making the list moderated. I certainly don't have time to moderate the list myself, so I would suggest giving at least a half dozen, maybe more, people the ability to approve posts to keep it flowing quickly. Moderators would be asked just to approve/disapprove based upon a

I'm part of a few slack communities and it seems an excellent platform for realtime discourse and noob baiting. Very sadly the #centos and #rhel freenode irc channels seem to be rather quiet these days and the irc protocol generally seems to be on the way out. IRC is a bit of a poor show when compared to modern platforms like Slack and Mattermost.

please block user
In consequence of this thread I went looking for a probe script that would send individualized email messages to each subscriber of a mailman list and found none. Does such a thing in fact exist? It seems to me that this would be an invaluable tool in tracking down which subscriber is the bot-bait. -- *** e-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** Do NOT transmit sensitive

Connection hangs...
In problem-fixing, the "nicest" problems are those reproducible on demand. Alas, this one is not nice. System: Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.7 (also see similar on Solaris 2.6). Symptom (user perspective): PC suddenly, spontaneously freezes and eventually the connection times out. Symptom (log file): [2000/02/15 09:27:30, 0] ../lib/util_sock.c:read_socket_data(474)

new R documentation on CRAN
Dear R community A few weeks ago, I uploaded a small text file called R-and-octave.txt to the contributed docs section of CRAN. This file details octave/matlab commands and their (near) equivalents in R (Matlab is a widely-used high-level graphics/mathematics tool and octave a free clone). Someone has just pointed out to me that I never announced its existence to anyone, hence this email (I
