two lines in axis title combined with 'substitute' command
...xis title of my plot in 2 lines, centered: experiment 1: log2(Ratio H/L) I know that in principle that works with '\n'. However, I am also using the 'substitute' command for my axis title. However, it does not make a new line. What I have so far: logbase <- 2 test <- "bait" cellline <- "cellline" plot( log(filteredproteins[["Ratio.H.L.normalized.UW21_FW"]],base=logbase), -log(filteredproteins[["Ratio.H.L.normalized.UW21_REV"]],base=logbase), main= substitute("bait = "* bait *" in "*cellline, list(bait=bait, c...

nlme for groupedData with inner and outer factors
Hello, I am having trouble specifying a suitable nlme model. My data structure is described by gd <- groupedData(ppath ~ lcut | exp, outer = ~ bait, inner = ~ weight, data = d) i.e. the response (ppath) of several subjects (sub) was measured at levels of a continuous variable (lcut). Subjects were given either of one level of a factor (bait), and all subjects were measured at two levels of another factor (weight). Therefore bait varies am...

removing data randomly based on previous observations
Hello, I have a dataset which contains multiple trap pulls over the course of a fishing season. Each trap was baited and then returned to the water to be pulled again. I am trying to remove that bait from the catch observed on the next pull (the bait is the same as the catch, lobster). The traps have been baited differently throughout the season. I would like to randomly remove two lobsters from the catch if...

Should List be Moderated?
In light of recent flame baits and advertisements sent to the list, I would like to seek opinions of list members on making the list moderated. I certainly don't have time to moderate the list myself, so I would suggest giving at least a half dozen, maybe more, people the ability to approve posts to keep it flowing quickly....

I'm part of a few slack communities and it seems an excellent platform for realtime discourse and noob baiting. Very sadly the #centos and #rhel freenode irc channels seem to be rather quiet these days and the irc protocol generally seems to be on the way out. IRC is a bit of a poor show when compared to modern platforms like Slack and Mattermost.

[cfe-dev] RFC: Switching from Bugzilla to Github Issues [UPDATED]
...g spammed with thousands of emails/notifications? Perhaps the llvm organization has the ability to stop this, but smaller projects I've seen move to github issues have generally sent dozens-hundreds of emails in the process of importing their issues -- this seems notably undesirable. (The "bait-and-switch" tactic might actually help here as presumably the new repository could be hidden/unwatched until all issues are imported) > Someone else also mentioned this to me off-list. We don't have a good solution for this right now other than asking people to turn off notifications...

In consequence of this thread I went looking for a probe script that would send individualized email messages to each subscriber of a mailman list and found none. Does such a thing in fact exist? Connection hangs...
In problem-fixing, the "nicest" problems are those reproducible on demand. Alas, this one is not nice. System: Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.7 (also see similar on Solaris 2.6). Symptom (user perspective): PC suddenly, spontaneously freezes and eventually the connection times out. Symptom (log file): [2000/02/15 09:27:30, 0] ../lib/util_sock.c:read_socket_data(474)

E.g. > > http://www.startssl.com > http://buy.wosign.com/free Today, I would prefer Let?s Encrypt: https://letsencrypt.org/ It is philosophically aligned with the open source software world, rather than act as bait for a company that would prefer to sell you a cert instead. I?m only aware of one case where you absolutely cannot use Let?s Encrypt, but it also affects the other public CAs: you can?t get a publicly-trusted cert for a machine without a publicly-recognized and -visible domain name. For that, you...
