zpool version 3 & Uberblock version 9 , zpool upgrade only half succeeded?
...pool 1 stor is a raidz out of 7 iscsi nodes, home is a local mirror pool. Recently we had some issues with one of the storagenodes, because of that the pool was degraded. Since we did not succeed in bringing this storagenode back online (on zfs level) we upgraded our nashead from opensolaris b57 to b77. After upgrade we succesfully resilvered the pool (resilver took 1 week! -> 14 TB). Finally we upgraded the pool to version 9 (comming from version 3). Now zpool is healty again, but perfomance realy s*cks. Accessing older data takes way to much time. Doing "dtruss -a find ." in a zfs...

I.O error: zpool metadata corrupted after powercut
...her powercut in our test labo :-( And again one pool was lost. This system was not configured with zfs no cache flush. On the pool we had +/- 40 zvols used by running vm''s (iscsi boot/swap/data disks for xen & virtual box guests) The first failure was on a b68 system, the second on a b77 system. Last zpool was using iscsi disks: setup: pool mirror: iscsidisk1 san1 iscsidisk1 san2 mirror: iscsidisk2 san1 iscsidisk2 san2 I thought zfs was always persistent on disk, but apparently a power cut has can cause unrecoverable damage. I can accept the first failure (becau...

remove disk (again)
...chive spare c1t1d0 This is a zpool on an X4500 with 4 raidz2''s configured. From my reading of previous threads, the ZFS FAQ and the wikipedia entry, it looks as though the only way I can remove the disk now is to destroy the zpool and then rebuild it. Is this still the case until Nevada b77? - Colby "never type anything at 4am without the benefit of stimulants" Gutierrez-Kraybill This message posted from opensolaris.org

Panic when ZFS pool goes down?
Is it still the case that there is a kernel panic if the device(s) with the ZFS pool die? I was thinking to attach some cheap SATA disks to a system to use for nearline storage. Then I could use ZFS send/recv on the local system (without ssh) to keep backups of the stuff in the main pool. The main pool is replicated across 2 arrays on the SAN and we have multipathing and it''s quite

? Removing a disk from a ZFS Storage Pool
Hi my understanding is that you cannot remove a disk from a ZFS storage pool once you have added it...but I also think I saw an email from Jeff B saying that the ability to depopulate a disk so that it can be removed is being worked on....or was I dreaming ? What is the status of this ? Thanks Tim -- Signature Tim Thomas Staff Engineer Storage Systems Product Group

Does ZFS work with SAN-attached devices?
Hi All, Its been a while since I touched zfs. Is the below still the case with zfs and hardware raid array? Do we still need to provide two luns from the hardware raid then zfs mirror those two luns? http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/faq/#hardwareraid Thanks, Shawn -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

Solaris DomU HVM Network issues
Hi, I''m running Nevada 75a configured as dom0. I added a domU HVM running Nevada 75a, on a Sun X4600 with 8 ADM Dual cores. I can get the domU installed and configured, however, I can not get any network connectivity. I followed the steps accoding to documents on Open Solaris. I also followed some of the threads of the list to verify the configuration, but I can not fix the

b75 zone ip-exclusive problem
got a problem with b75 that the zone with ip-exclusive just takes the identity of the global zone. For the primary nic there is no option to set its ip and hostname. When i change the host name and ip the hostname does not change and the networking goes weird for both the zone and global zone. sparc eri qfe There any bugs about or should this work fine? Hi, my system (solaris b77) was physically destroyed and i loosed data saved in a zpool mirror. The only thing left is a dettached vdev from the pool. I''m aware that uberblock is gone and that i can''t import the pool. But i still hope their is a way or a tool (like tct http://www.porcupine.org/forensics/) i...

OpenSolaris ZFS NAS Setup
If it''s of interest, I''ve written up some articles on my experiences of building a ZFS NAS box which you can read here: http://breden.org.uk/2008/03/02/a-home-fileserver-using-zfs/ I used CIFS to share the filesystems, but it will be a simple matter to use NFS instead: issue the command ''zfs set sharenfs=on pool/filesystem'' instead of ''zfs set
