Application logic
Hi all
I''ve done a few tutorials and small simple apps and would now like to
make a somewhat larger application at my college to take student
assesments. I just can''t figure out where some application logic
should go... Maybe someone could give me some pointers?
This is what I want to do: a student or teacher logs in on the site. A
student can take an assesment of 70 questions

[PATCH] drm/gem: Expose the buffer object handle to userspace last
From: Tvrtko Ursulin <tvrtko.ursulin at intel.com>
Currently drm_gem_handle_create_tail exposes the handle to userspace
before the buffer object constructions is complete. This allowing
of working against a partially constructed object, which may also be in
the process of having its creation fail, can have a range of negative
outcomes.
A lot of those will depend on what the individual

R on Google Android
...#39;m raising this question again, is that I would really
want a (basic) statistical package on my mobile phone, and I think it
would be kind of stupid to start writing one from scratch when R is
already out there.
Unfortunately I don't know that much about build systems and are not
capable of assesing whether it indeed would be possible to port R to
Android through NDK. I know a bit of both R, Java, and C and would be
able to help trying some different approaches, if anybody wants to
help me.
The alternative is to start writing a new mobile statistical package
from the beginning. And although i...

User-defined functions in rpart
This question concerns rpart's facility for user-defined functions that
accomplish splitting.
I was interested in modifying the code so that in each terminal node,
a linear regression is fit to the data.
It seems that from the allowable inputs in the user-defined functions,
that this may not be possible, since they have the form:
function(y, wt, parms) (in the case of the

Samba public IP issue
Hello,
I am running two Samba Domain Controllers on as Ubuntu 18.04 VMs
installed on two physical hosts. I've managed to bind them and to run
the replication. My issues is that the private IP address is advertised
and the replication fails. Even though I update the DNS entry? after a
few minutes the changes are overwritten and the replication fails again.
Can someone help me with this

Samba public IP issue
Ok, and these 2 ipadresses, are these on one or 2 interfaces. ?
(and keep cc-ing the samba list, this might also help others). ;-)
What might help me.
Get this script and run it:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thctlo/samba4/master/samba-collect-debug-info.sh
Anonymize data if needed and post the content to the list, not as attachment thats filtered out.
That will give me most info i

unconditionally enable the trace buffer
Last month Mark Williamson sent out a patch to unconditionally enable
the trace buffer. I''d like to suggest that his patch be accepted and
merged. I have performed some simple benchmarks to quantify the overhead
associated with the trace buffer and calls, and found a negligable
performance loss due to them. The actual number was .069%, and was
gotten by timing a simple cpu-intensive

Samba public IP issue
Most probely he is using public ip for webservers mail etc.
But uses samba with private range to setup and control user/groups
and he does not want to public ip and samba ip/ports to the internet.
But still, this is a error, in my personal opinion, in the resolving setup.
:-/ And thats why i hammer on a correct resolving setup.
But he could also add VPN this setup, and will help in fixing

Recommendations on a WiFi phone for *?
We're getting our feet more and more wet with VOIP at work. We want to
experiment with a good wireless (as in WiFi) phone. What would be a
good phone to impress my boss with?
I'm personally drooling over the UTStarcom F3000, but compatibility and
shipping ETA info is a bit sketchy.

Ruby''s purpose?
Before I get flamed, I just want to start off by saying that I am new to
Ruby and I really enjoy this language and want to see it succeed.
But, what niche does this language fill?
These are serious question, not a put down of the language.
Does it has something to offer for Web 2.0?
Is it just another scripting language?
Does it suppose to replace something else?
Does it suppose to work with
