New Embedded Distro
Hi All, A couple of weeks ago I noticed Askozia PBX, which is a new embedded Asterisk & OS distro at http://askozia.com/pbx. This caught my attention for two reasons; it uses v1.4 of Asterisk, and it uses the m0n0wall development framework to build on FreeBSD with a PHP based GUI. I've used m0n0wall for years, and FreeNAS also, which sha...

Hi, I met Michael Iedema of the Askozia pbx project at ANOOMA (ANOOMA is the Cannes Festival of the Asterisk world) and begged him to take time off from porting Askozia from FreeBSD to linux to tell us about his project and the problems of porting as well. Hope you'll all be able to stop by and lmisten or download or stream the recor...

Minimal Asterisk Web Interface?
I'm looking for a web GUI to Asterisk that I can run on some small embedded hardware. I've used FreePBX in the past but the overhead is not to my liking and it is entirely too complicated. I do not wish to change my entire OS just for the GUI either (aka AstLinux). Is there anything out there? I'd like to have only a small set of features, primarily the configuration of extensions,

1.6 and asterisk gui
Hello, I'm new to asterisk and this list. The ISO download appears to have 1.6 with the FreePBX GUI but I am looking to use the Asterisk GUI. The only option for the Asterisk GUI is to use 1.4. Is it as simple as installing 1.6 only then using the yum repository to install the Asterisk GUI? If so, what packages are needed? Thanks!

Asterisk on IBM Netvista 2800 8364-EXX?
Hello I'm looking at my options to build a compact, silent, headless Asterisk server to handle one or two FXO ports. Out of curiosity, I got one of those babies on eBay for 20E: http://silicon-verl.de/home/flo/software/netstation-8364/ Before I spend time on this, can someone tell me if... 1. it's easy to install Linux on those things (am willing to add a CF-to-IDE adapter to use a

Compact, fanless appliance?
Hello For those SOHO customers (ie. at most, a couple of POTS/ISDN connections and simultaneous SIP calls) who'd rather not use a big, noisy PC to run Asterisk, I'd like to offer an alternative that has the following features: - not old hardware sold on eBay, ie. it must be up-to-date hardware sold by a company currently in business - compact, silent - has room for a 2.5" hard-disk,

New Project: AskoziaPBX
...o a bit larger audience. This is not a live-cd but rather an image that must initially be written to a disk, so a dedicated machine is needed. After that, the entire system is upgradeable through the webGUI. Anyone familiar with the m0n0wall project (http://m0n0.ch/wall) will feel right at home as AskoziaPBX was forked from it. Here are the quick facts from the website and a link to the page: * ~11 MB firmware image * PHP based GUI accessible via http(s) * based on Asterisk 1.4 and FreeBSD 6.2 * designed for embedded / low resource systems * images available for the following p...

dialplan logic questions: macro not reaching DIALSTATUS based extension (s-ANSWER)
Hello everyone, I'm having some troubles with some dialplan logic I've written which sends missed call notifications via e-mail. It's currently sending these notifications even if the call was answered, marking them all as hung-up. What I've been able to see is that the macro never reaches the "s-ANSWER" bits which mark the call as successful. I've posted my

AskoziaPBX 2.0 Released
Hello everyone, I haven't said much here about the project for awhile now but I think this is worth a mention. After about 18 months of development, version 2.0 of the software is available! - http://www.askozia.com/news/2010/5/4/new-release-200.html For those unfamiliar with the project, we're working on creating an Open Source firmware for embedded appliances which makes it possible for "normal" people to setup an Asterisk system. The whole thing is configured via a WebGUI and uses common...

PXE-bootable diskless Asterix distro?
Hello Since I got the IBM Netvista to boot Linux, and am still waiting for the Compact Flash cards that I ordered, I was wondering if someone knew of an Asterisk distribution that can run on that kind of diskless host? I've taken a look at AstLinux and AskoziaPBX, but they both seem to be meant to be installed on a solid-state medium instead of RAM. For instance, the Netvista is unable to uncompress a kernel, so expects "linux" instead of "vmlinuz", etc. Or is it trivial even for a non-guru like me to modify such light Asterisk distr...

Any good guides for installing Asterisk on Embedded systems like Alix boards?
Hi Everyone, Knowing that running Asterisk on an embedded board like the Alix2d3 requires some fine tuning. Do you know of any good guides out there that does this from beginning to end? Looking to run this in a small office environment. Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Smallest possible Asterisk VM
How small can an Asterisk system be, in terms of disk space utilized? I am looking for just asterisk, with mysql, postgresql, or sqlite, with PHP and Python. After finishing the build and removing the tools, how small can the whole system be? 100Mb, 200Mb? Can packages be used to build the whole system, like using debs and rpms alone? /vfclists

parse error in GosubIf
Greetings everyone, today I spent the last part of my day trying to find a parse error inside this snip: http://pastebin.ca/740081 If there's anyone who can shed some light on why my GosubIf condition is throwing a parse error, I'd greatly appreciate your insight. This was really frustrating and is probably a stupid mistake. Regards, -Michael
