example(..., ask=getOption("example.ask"))
Hi, I wish to return to the topic "[Rd] example(ask = .) - default ?" discussed in R-devel on May 1, 2006, because I think it is related to my problem. In one of my Rd examples I generate multiple (20-30!) PNG files using png()/dev.off(). I noticed that I get a "Hit <Return> to see next plot:" for each png() call, when calling example() [interactively]. The code for

Problem with geometry manager in TclTK
Hello, everyone. I have the following problem with TclTk: I create some windows and want to change their position with geometry manage (sometimes they will be centered, sometimes not). If the toplevel is created and its dimensions are gathered via 'tkwinfo', I get (usually) correct values. However, if this window is created by a function (in the following example, by 'ask.format')

Getting Alibre Design to work...
I am new to Wine and don't really know my way round it but I thought I might try my CAD software on it, Alibre Design. It seems to have installed fine but won't start. I have discussed this in another thread already (here: http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=9205) but the heading is rather misleading so I thought I might start a new thread with a proper heading. Any help in getting

example() leaves console prompting to press Enter for new graphs
Env: Win XP, R 2.9.2] It's a minor annoyance, but I find that after I run example(), the console state of prompting to press Enter for each new graph remains as it is under example. It's more annoying that it seems difficult to turn this behavior off! In a fresh session: > getOption("example.ask") [1] "default" Run an example: > example(plot) plot>

asking the user for data
Hello everyone. How do I get R to ask users for data to be entered? Specifically I want to ask for a z score to be entered (the user would look this up in a table) and then use the entered data to compute a Dunn's post-hoc test (post kruskal.test). I've tried the "ask" function but it's not recognised - maybe I don't have to appropriate libary installed. A pointer

At a guess, this is R-devel and Windows. In response to a misled follow-up: he most likely did not ask for binary packages ... that is not the default on

example() and "ask"
Dear list, Is it intentional that example() opens a new device and leaves it in a mode where it asks (prompts) the user to Press return to see the next plot for *all* subsequent plots on that device. For example; with an already opened device, example() works as I would expect: > par("ask") [1] FALSE > example(lm) .... OUTPUT CLIPPED .... lm> plot(lm.D9, las = 1) #

"ask=F" option with plot.gam
Hello. I'd like to plot only one component smooth function of a gam model (for example the second) (library mgcv). So, I did : plot(my.gam, select=2, ask=F) But plot.gam doesn't seem to understand the "ask" option, so I can't deactivate the interactive plotting. I tried and failed by forcing it through : par(ask=F) And the "page" option of plot.gam (automatic
