NOOB: Second post, please help...
Folks, I am linking from page A to page B, and back again. When I go from A -> B, the B_controller.rb runs fine, and the page renders properly. But, when I go from B -> A, the A_controller.rb doesn''t run again, so the array (@A) is nil (which causes a problem). Should the controller run each time the page is accessed? Any ideas? max cmd. length in sftp?
...limit to command in sftp. In fact the sftp client hangs after 256 characters of input. I've tested on the following two implementations: 1) OpenSSH_4.2p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8a 11 Oct 2005 2) SSH Version Sun_SSH_1.0.1, protocol versions 1.5/2.0. Both behave in the same manner. The reason I'm askin is that we're having problems in solaris which allows filenames longer than 256 chars long. It's not currently possible (without the use of wildcards) to fetch these files. Is this a client implementation limitation or a limitation in the sftp/ssh specification? Thanks in advance. ___...

Validate Before Delete
I have an Order model with a ''status'' column. What I want to be able to do is validate that the status of the Order is not completed before it is allowed to be deleted. I tried the following method in my Model, but it appears that this only works for an :update or :create on the record. Anyone know how to do this, and if it should be in the model or the controller?

Outlook + attached files
I am not sure where to begin to look into how to solve this problem. I've setup a samba 3.0.0 Fileserver moved all of my users files over to it, works great thanks developers=). I've encountered a few documented problems such as the Excel saving over another file thing(already been patched I belive). And a few I can't find anything on. One specifically is causing me some grief. We

adding layouts within layouts
Hi, I want to be able to have several layouts within each other so that I don''t have to keep repeating the layout code for one, in another. An example would be having a layout for the title of your web page and then having an embedded layout for the body portion in which the HTML for whatever view gets displayed. Is this possible? Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An

Deprecation of scp protocol and improving sftp client
Hello all, I believe we all can agree that scp is ugly protocol carried for ages only for its simplicity of its usage and really no dependencies as it is installed together with every ssh client. But as we have seen recently, its simplicity and flexibility comes with security issues [1], it does not have great performance and there is really no development in there. Over the years, we still keep

Testing has_many, :through relationships
...(:first) returns true, which I''m assuming is the logical expression that the spec resolves to. Is this a problem with my spec or a problem with Rspec on Rails? I''ve only been using it for the last couple of hours so I expect I''m the problem. cheers, Ben -- http://teamaskins.net
