In some spare time, been trying to get Samba 4.10.6-1 working on AIX.
Several earlier posts handled by Louis and Rowland. Which were much
appreciated and beneficial.

Constructing an array of stuff (to send multiple apple push notifications)
I''m using this gem https://github.com/justintv/APNS to send push
notifications to an iPhone app and amazingly it works for single
notifications, such that I can do...
APNS.send_notification(Device.first.device_token,''test message'')
Works great...
Now it should be a simple task (as per the docs to send multiple
notifications)

Rowland,
The wiki suggested doing "smbd -b | grep HAVE_LIBACL" and expecting to get back "HAVE_LIBACL".
This is not the case on our IBM system with 4.10.6.
The current version from IBM is 4.10.13 - considering upgrading in the hopes "HAVE_LIBACL" is present if I really need it.
On the other hand, "smbd -b" does report that smbd was built with vfs_aixacl

Frequently changing IP addresses
Hi
I am a user of openVPN and am keen to explore tinc to help with a specific
problem.
My example - I have 10 computers all connected to internet via mobile
broadband and public apns. all wan ip addresses are dynamic and change often
- there is no machine or point with a static ip. I am not allowed to use any
third party services like dyndns. I want each computer to continue to be
able to talk to the other even if they go down one by one.
is this even possible and can tinc...

Is it possible to enable push notifications for iOS/macOS mail clients on a stock dovecot?
...we have to move to an open source solution. I have done this using Macports and it works well (no thanks to Apple as it never published the in 2018 promised migration info for mail services).
The MacPorts Apple Push Notification variant based on a patch written a few years ago for dovecot supports APNS but it requires you to export a certificate form your old High Sierra Server.app. With the patch and that certificate, dovecot tells an email client it supports XAPPLEPUSHSERVICE and that makes Apple mail clients think they are talking to macOS Server and they switch to push notifications for updat...

puppetmaster not responding
I''m unable to get a response from the puppetmaster I''m testing with.
`netstat -apn` shows puppetmaster/ruby listening on port 8140, but
telnet connections are refused both from a different location and from
the commandline on the master server.
I''ve restarted a number of times but I''m still getting nothing, and
AFAICT there aren''t any conflicting

Is it possible to enable push notifications for iOS/macOS mail clients on a stock dovecot?
This requires the ongoing use of macOS Server (as does the patch that is part of the MacPorts port of dovecot2). The issue then is: how do you keep getting certificates for push mail if mail services have been removed from macOS Server? I can configure this today but on Oct 20, my apns certificate expires. Then what?

disable SMBv1 on AD
Was looking into how to disable SMBv1 and NetBIOS on a Samba AD.
I suspect that if one just wants to support Win7 and "greater" this
should work. However to prevent some open NetBIOS ports the "nbt"
service must be removed from the "server services" entry.
Basically these two entries (note nbt missing in the services line):
server services = s3fs, rpc, wrepl, ldap,

server started as daemon: Application behaves differently from running in console
Hi,
running our app from its application folder /app via
script/server -p <port>
works fine.
Starting the rails server (2.3.17) as a daemon via
cd /app && script/server -p <port> -d
(e.g. as init.d script)
our application works in parts, but on several actions throws the error
below. It seems that the daemon does not have the correct environment

Email Push to Iphone
there is this plugin to use APNS to notify phones, its a faf though as you need a legal OSX Server to generate the
signing keys, I never ended up implementing it.
