New release of aoTuV
For those who missed it, there's a new release of aoTuV (beta 4.5). According to Aoyumi-san, there's some new tuning for audio below quality set 3 (-q3), but I have not tested it myself yet. I wonder when Monty will actually check the new versions of aoTuV and merge them with main trunk. Latest tests on HA show the latest tunings of Aoyumi-san have matured Vorbis a lot, and th...

Hay! Has anyone come across these errors using valgrind for the oggenc tool or the encoder_example.c: ==13108== Invalid read of size 4 ==13108== at 0x4155734: _vp_offset_and_mix (in /usr/local/lib/libvorbis.so.0.4.1) ==13108==

Is this project still ongoing?
...projects (Vorbis and Theora). Looking at the SVN I can see there are still tweaks being made here and there. This year there has been lots of discussion on surround/multichannel vorbis; see almost any month so far in 2007 from vorbis-dev. This has also led to the ambisonics resource on the wiki. Aoyumi's aoTuV encoder tweaks got to beta5 in November last year and I understand some of those will eventually end up in the reference encoder. XiphQT continues to make progress, with the recent addition of encoding and multichannel support. Annodex and XPSF are both progressing. Annodex's lib...

Attn Ivo. Re patches 15347 and 15376
Ivo, Your patch number 16347 uses _fseeki64 when _WIN32 is defined. Unfortunately, MinGW (or at least the Linux -> Win32 cross compiler I'm using) defines _WIN32 but isn't aware of _fseeki64. I have therefore modified your solution a little and commited it as rev 15376. The code now looks like this: #ifdef __MINGW32__ return fseeko64(f,off,whence); #elif defined

still developed?
Sorry for asking, but libogg and libvorbis especially are still developed? No updates from september 2004. I just need to know if I have to move to FLAC [which is actively maintained] to store my CDs.

I heard about aoTuV...
... and was wondering how it differs from the official libvorbis and why there is need for a fork. Could somebody shed some light on the past and background of the libvorbis/aoTuV story please? Both on- and offlist mails are welcome. Thanks in advance, Sebastian

vorbis-tools 1.3.0 BETA - Help testing.
Dear vorbis-dev lurkers, I bring you the first beta release of vorbis-tools 1.3.0. It has quite a few new features and the final version will have even more, so I am sure it is to everyone's benefit that it gets as much tested as possible so we can do a quick release. Here's the changelog so far: * Fixed an error in configure.ac; --with-speex/flac work again (#1319) * Corrected

vorbis 1.1 rc 1 now tagged in SVN
...r 32,44.1 and 48 kbps input samples. This 1.1 release merges the AoTuV tunings into the mainline Xiph codebase along with other tuning tweaks. The AoTuV tunings are unchanged from the AoTuV encoder with the following exceptions: a) bugfix to AoTuV code section 'M1'; after discussion with Aoyumi, we agree that the second tuning case both triggered relatively seldomly and did not produce the intended results when it did trigger. The predominating first case ('partial masking') is now used for all samples. This should address some minor pure tone instability issues in the AoTuV enco...

5.1 surround channel coupling
It obviously would be nice to have such a mode available, for e.g. DVD audio compression. Apparently, the list doesn''t tell me too much about it. My questions are: 1. What is the current status of the 5.1 channel coupling in Vorbis? 2. If I''ll be interested in participation in its development, what is the recommended reading? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML
