How to stop an R script when running JGR on a Linux/SuSE system
...on the STOP-symbol (a big red X) placed on JGR top menu bar could terminate a process that had entered a long loop.
Eventually I could kill the process from bash comman line using # kill -KILL <process-id>
I wonder whether there is a more gentle way to stop an R script running on top of JGR aother than ... unplugging the power cord.
Thank you so much,
Maura

I would like to know if it's possible to install the R UNIX version on the
MacOSX and run that UNIX package on my Mac (through this UNIX R Vresion on
a Mac)
I have seen a porfile for r version 1.8.1 on darwin:

is that it?
aother question related to that
if it's possible to use UNIX R in Mac, does anyone know how fast or how
slow that is?
thanks for any help!

Ogg Flac padding
...mat (actually it seems OK with it so
long as it is the last metadata page). I think it ignores the packet length as
declared by Ogg and just reads the bytes listed in the metablock header.
Further, libFLAC doesn't seem to understand when multiple metadata block
packets appear on the same page, aother legal arrangement, indeed the one that
is implied by the Ogg Flac mapping specification.
What can be done to support this format?

(Trying) to understand Print properties saving
Hi,
some weeks ago I wrote to this list about a problem I have saving print
properties (samba 3.4.7 - ubuntu-lucid + XP-pro)
I never managed to solve it, I also tried with samba 3.6+ (Ubuntu precise)
but had aother problems I wrote about in this list ending opening a bug
[1].
Now I had to go back to my 3.4.7 installation. I'd like at least to bettere
understand how print properties work so that I can cope better with the
situation.
In my setup the drivers are distributed by the server, client do realiz...

sampling from general multivariate pdf
...ent marginal PDFs
are known (RV means and covariance or correlation matrix)?
Q. I see there is a Markov Chain Monte Carlo package, but the mcmc documentation is
not clear enough for me to be able to use it to simulate draws from joint PDFs. I'd like
to automate this type of task. Is there aother Monte Carlo strategy that has
an R interface?
Can anyone help?
Other Stats Questions/comments:
* I'm aware the underlying joint PDF cannot be uniquely determined, but I assume for
certain simulation purposes sampling correlated RV's from the marginal PDFs is
sufficient (eg., my purpose...

SMB hogs cpu - printing freezes server
..._init_kernel_oplocks(287)
Failed to setup RT_SIGNAL_LEASE handler
We are using lprng as we thought it was CUPS creating the problem and
since using lprng we are also getting a symptom that on the windows 2000
client, when looking at the print queue, the last job printed remains in
the window until aother job pushes it out.
The questions I have are whether the system is not sufficient to handle
this task. Do we need to split the number of printers over a couple of
machines,
is there a memory leak. I sthere a way that we can throttle smbd so
that it can cope with peaky printing demand.
Final questi...

Is there anything wrong the way I am calling "computeCalleeCallerMapping" or any aother mistake I may be doing? Thanks.

Very slow disk I/O
Hi Users
I am using RHEL 6.5 on my server.
From top command i can see that the processors in my server are
spending a lot of time on wait for I/O.
I can see high percentage in terms of 30-50% on "wa" time.
Here is the df output about the disk space in my system:
