Mailing list's prefix
Do you think I'd break a lot of people's filters if I removed the prefix? :) Anyone strongly for/against removing it? RMySQL, Sweave and the annoying TRUE echo
Hi, A small (but annoying) problem with RMySQL library. When a connection is closed, it echoes 'TRUE' to the console. Like this: R> mysqlCloseConnection(con) [1] TRUE The real problem comes when I use RMySQL with Sweave, since the TRUE echo gets into my final Sweave document. Even when I explicitly state <<include=FALSE, echo=FALSE>>= in the header of the R code chunk.

Stop annoying kernel message
Hi Everyone! This is my problem: I?m using Nagios tool to monitor my servers with Cent OS 5, and I recently added the script for check nfs. This script makes an rpc request in the server, but every time that script makes this request, I have this message in /var/log/messages: "kernel: svc: unknown version (0)" I?m not sure if this message is only a message or a problem that I have to

Login annoyance
OK, now I have everything working. I have my smbpasswd file setup and I verified that it is working. Very cool. I still have one question regarding an annoyance with the login window. Although my users and I can log in successfully, the window still has this annoying message (see attachment): Incorrect password or unknown username for: \\SERVERNAME Can I make this go away? Is it a result of an incorrect configuration on my server? I should be hap...

Winamp plugin annoyance
...hread, replace if(lostsync || (decode_pos_ms - lastupdate > 500)) { ... mod.SetInfo(bitrate / 1000, samplerate / 1000, num_channels, 1); by if(lostsync || (decode_pos_ms - lastupdate > 500)) { ... mod.SetInfo(bitrate / 1000, -1, -1, -1); (-1 indicating "no change") Another annoyance, if an Ogg file does not have a title, it is displayed in the playlist as (example) c:\OggVorbis\Pennywise\Pennywise - Peaceful Day.ogg (no title) I think it would be less annoying to let it display Pennywise - Peaceful Day As most music files have their title as filenames, and the oggenc bi...

R annoyances
Dear R Folks, I'm a big fan of R, but there are a couple of things that repeatedly annoy me, and I wondered if anyone has neat ways to deal with them. (a) When using "apply" row-wise to a matrix, it returns the results column-wise, and to preserve the original orientation, I've to do a transpose. E.g. I've to keep doing a transpose, which I consider to be quite

6.5, minor annoyances
I rebuilt my system a couple/three weeks ago, and it's running 6.5, and there's a couple of minor annoyances: first, all my xterms, when I login in from the console, always are in ~/Documents, rather than ~. The other is that, running KDE, I can't find where to turn *off* the stupid login/logout theme music.* Oh, and I get this enTHUsiastic menu, rather than the traditional one. Someone know where I...

Updates offered annoyance
...D to use for fresh installations. Now when I install fresh CentOS 5.5 (in VM) I am getting info that there are 50 packages updates. This is ok when I have good internet speed (@work) but when I am home, this update takes a lot of time. I guess I can skip updates but I wasn't experiencing such annoyance with CentOS 5.4. My gues is that when CentOS 5.4 was finalized there is no updates to that DVD. Is there any suggestions ? -- Aleksandar dipl. ing. Dovecot Wiki: Please disable edit on double click
Hi Aki, could you maybe disable the 'edit on doubleclick' feature on wiki2.dovecot.org? Everytime I try to select a word by double clicking on it, I end up in editing mode. It's just a minor thing, but maybe I'm not the only one who's annoyed by this ;) Thanks! Michael

Annoyment in the install.sh script
Hi, I noticed something annoying in the install.sh script about manpages installation : first time you run it, it turns all .5 and .8 files into .5.gz and .8.gz files, then copy them at the right place. After the first run of install.sh script, ther is no more .5 and .8 files in the manpages directory. But according to the extract of the script below, the second time you run install.sh

SQLite and ext3 journalling mode
Hi, Are SQLite users that are worried about losing data that has been committed (fsynced) better off setting data=journal than data=ordered (or even data=writeback)? The context is trying to reduce the number of writes to a flash file-system without sacrificing data integrity in the event of a power failure or OS crash. Thanks, Dan Kennedy.

Annoying Sipura problem?
This may not be the right place to ask, but I have an annoying issue with a Sipura/SPA1000-2.0.10(e) ATA device connected to an Asterisk box. (The system is remote to me, so I've only been able to observe this by dialling into a VoIP phone on-site, then run commands on the box remotely!) First of all it's all working fine connected to an Asterisk box and the user can make/take calls

strange and annoying messages from lib-virtd
Hi, Since a few weeks I'm getting lot of messages in syslog in FC20 sent by libvirt. I've tried to find the reason using our best friend, but all I can find is some kind of bug related to CPU feature reporting. I'm not really interested what is the reason of the message (I'm sure it will be fixed in an upcoming release), but I would like to get rid of these annoying messages

Annoying Mouse Tricks
Hi All, Something that just has been annoying the daylights out of me for the past 9 months with no resolution in site. I've got a Hawking HKS 104 4 port KVM connecting my Linux workstation, 2 servers, and my wife's windows workstation to one monitor, mouse, and keyboard. No matter how I toggle back and forth whether by keyboard or directly on the device once I come back to the linux

Windows GUI package install annoyance
Folks: A minor (R 2.2.0) Windows package install annoyance, but I can't figure out how to fix it. If someone could tell me how or point me to the appropriate docs, I would appreciate it. Annoying "feature" in dovecot/pidgeonhole - include depth limitation
Hi all, I'm using dovecot 2.0.14 build on Debian. The maintainers obviously patch the dovecot source so that it uses the pidgeonhole sieve system. Today I ran into a very annoying issue: I created several sieve scripts and interlinked via the include command, only to find dovecot spewing this error message at me: SWREG Newsletter: line 14: error: cannot nest includes deeper than 10 levels.
