Valid users question
Hi,
I've a question about the syntax of the valid users option. Any help is
greatly appreciated!
Here is the Background:
samba 3.0.4
Linux as Domain Member
Active Directory, not in Native Mode
Compiler opions: --with-winbind --with-pam --with-smbmount
The goal is to authenticate via the Windows Domain and allow access via
Windows groups.
The syntax in my smb.conf looks like this:

Bizarre failure of samba shares to XP
OK, this one is really strange, and I'm not sure where to go with it. Here's the setup ...
Main box is running Debian testing/sarge with samba 3.0.5. Earlier it was 3.0.4 and 3.0.2. Very generic installation for home, acting as a file server for several XP Pro boxes, and everything has been running swimmingly. Using USER security, with users logging in to the XP boxes with the same ID

BackupExec Agent on Samba
Is there an improved BackupExec Unix agent available that works with Samba?
If not, can someone tell me how to work around the lack of the archive bit
that Linux has? In particular, RedHat Linux 7.2 is the system I'm looking
for help on.
I found the following hints in an older version of this newsletter, Samba
Digest, Vol. 3, Issue 34, sent March 21, 2003, that had this in it:

Odd problem with one user account..
Hello All,
I'm having an odd problem with one user, he connects just fine to the
Samba share but immediately get's an access denied message. The only
thing out of the ordinary that I can see in the log file is the snippet
below.
The configuration is 3.0.4 on RedHat compiled with winbind and smbmount
as a member server to a mixed mode Win2k domain. The output of smbd -b &

I believe if your samba server is a member in one of the workgroups and
there is a trust relationship between it and the other workgroup then
you can configure samba to allow from the other workgroup in effect
serving both workgroups.

ADS WKGUID join error
Hi List,
I'm wondering if someone can help me get past these errors Joining an
ADS Domain, using samba 3.0.14a & kerberos 1.3.5.
When I look at the debug output from the join attempt, it almost seems
as though The join is looking for an cn or something from the AD that
doesn't exist. I'm not an
Windows person and the AD admins are not around to help peep this out.
Can anyone
