MCI vs. XO/Allegiance
Hello All, Anyone out there using ISDN PRI from either MCI or XO/Allegiance? Gotta make the choice today and the difference per month is only about $25 in favor of MCI. Billing is pretty much the same between the two so I have pretty much no point of reference on which to choose. Any thoughts from anyone experienced with these two compnies would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Wiley

[OT] Network switches
I'm looking to acquire a few new core switches for our network which would be a major upgrade from the cheap unmanaged things we currently have. Basically, just users, servers, and other simple network devices will be plugged into them but I'd like to start doing some testing with iSCSI for various non-production reasons. I have no allegiance to a particular vendor although I do have a

Ruby "htmlentities" replacement: code review please!
Hi Railers, For some time now I''ve been looking for a decent Rails equivalent of PHP''s "htmlentities" command, because ERB''s html_escape (or more commonly called as just "h", eg. <%=h @somevariable %> ) just doesn''t go far enough for me. Back in PHP land, I actually had an extended version of the htmlentities command to deal with

PXE Network installs
Peter- I am working on developing a system to perform network boot and automated system installs of many systems, and I would like to use PXE. New systems would boot via PXE, then directed to special images that partition, format and install the server. Upon reboot, the system would boot off of local disk. Do you know of any resources, or of anyone that has begun to develop an infrastructure

[PATCH 1/2] Ocfs2: Add a mount option "coherency=*" for O_DIRECT writes.
Currently, default behavior of O_DIRECT writes was allowing concurrent writing among nodes, no cluster coherency guaranteed (no EX locks was taken), it hurts buffered reads on other nodes by reading stale data from cache. The new mount option introduce a chance to choose two different behaviors for O_DIRECT writes: * coherency=full, as the default value, will disallow concurrent

[RFC] The reflink(2) system call.
Hi everyone, I described the reflink operation at the Linux Storage & Filesystems Workshop last month. Originally implemented as an ocfs2-specific ioctl, the consensus was that it should be a syscall from the get-go. Here's some first-cut patches. For people who have not seen reflink, either at LSF or on the ocfs2 wiki, the first patch contains Documentation/filesystems/reflink.txt to
