2nd printer won't print
Good morning, I would appreciate some help. SAMBA is new turf. I am working out of a John Blair Book SAMBA: Integrating UNIX and Windows 1998 PROBLEM: unable to print to the 2nd of two printers on a samba host. ENVIRONMENT: -4 systems in a home network; connected to an HP hub (10 meg) -3 systems run Red Hat linux 9.0 (system names: snoopy, white, olblue) -4th system runs Windows 2000

Win XP-home connecting to Samba, ahhh, please help!
...y with different workgroup names, so I can see when the Windows computers sees the new workgroup, however, I have yet to ever be able to see the Linux computer under any of the new workgroups, even clicking on the new workgroup ends up timing out and saying it can't find that network resource. Ahhhhh, so you see the frustration! I have gone through the smb.conf file about 100 times, trying different options, turning others off, absolutely nothing has helped. I tried to use the SWAT config tool, however that isn't available for Samba 2.2.5 apparently, which is what shipped with RH 8.0. I...

Named update for RH 4.2 exploitable?
Someone I was speaking with this evening claimed they have installed the latest named rpms yet they are still getting exploited daily and being hacked. Do the latest rpm''s for the named 4.9.x stuff fix all the root exploits or is this person just an idiot who probably has holes elsewhere in the system?

booting domU with multiple concatenated ramdisks?
Hi! Some bootloaders (eg. syslinux) have to ability to load multiple ramdisks, effectively concatenating them. This makes it very easy to augment ramdisks, like eg. customizing an installer. Can I do something similar with XEN? Separating the ramdisk cpio arhives with commas in the config file didn''t work... -- Thanks, Feri. _______________________________________________ Xen-users

ZFS Filesystem Recovery on RAIDZ Array
...d recovered, at which point Primary attempted its regularly schedule mirror operation with Backup. One of our primary ZFS filesystems had not yet been restored, and since it wasn''t on Primary when the mirror operation began, ''zfs recv'' destroyed it on the Backup system. AHHHHH. So, in short, a RAIDZ array contained 7 ZFS filesystems + dozens of snapshots in one RAIDZ pool. 12 hours ago some of those filesystems were destroyed, effectively by a zfs destroy command (executed by zfs recv). No data has been written to that pool since then. Is there anyway to revert it to...

username case
I've had several instances now on my mixed NT 3.51/4.0/Samba network where clients on Win boxes would enter a username such as "THisbites", and be denyed access. The account in /etc/password was capitalized as "THisbites" and the NT domain account shows in User Manager as "THisbites". Nonetheless, Samba refuses them access, and claims (on a debug level3 ) that

Cucumber and Rcov
I am now trying to get rcov to work for me, without much success. I stole the rake task code from the cucumber site: desc "Run all features" task :features => "features:all" task :features => ''db:test:prepare'' require ''cucumber/rake/task'' #I have to add this -mischa namespace :features do Cucumber::Rake::Task.new(:all) do |t|

Who/What is making my field backgrounds yellow?
On *certain* fields in my rails forms the backgrounds are yellow. If I check the page source there is no clue as to why. However, if I *save* the page to disk and then open it in a text editor I can see that the affected fields are like: <input style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 160);" id="contact_first_name" name="contact[first_name]"

Dropping established connections
Hello, I have searched the list but couldn''t find the right answer. I want to drop an established DNAT connection but could not manage it yet. Someone earlier said to bring down the public interfaces, stop shorewall, bring up the public interface and then start shorewall again but this won''t work. I also saw a message from Tom that someone then should unload all iptables

CentOS 6.6 64-bit won't install on a 3 TB disk
> I'm having an issue getting a C6.6 install to work on a 3 TB dual hard >drive system, raid 0. I'm hoping that someone here can help. 1: Is this system booting UEFI or BIOS? 2: Is the disk partitioned with MBR or GPT? 3: Is /boot on its own partition? 3TB drives are larger than MBR and BIOS properly support, so they're only really expected to work on a system partitioned with

Kickstart network settings problem
I would like one of my kickstart scripts to prompt for disk and networking only. Commenting out the disk and network settings makes the installer prompt for disk settings but not for network settings, they default to DHCP. Any idea's how to fix this? Thanks Dean

N00B questions: How to dynamically set hostname in a config file . . .
Greetings - I''ve just started testing Puppet and have a couple of questions: 1. Is there a way to dynamically change a configuraion file that is sent to nodes? For example, I want to modify /etc/hosts to have the hostname and ip address set dynamically - the hosts file shoule look like: 12.34.56.78 node1.example.com 22.35.66.99 server1.example.com But I don''t want to

Puppet ignores hiera completely
I''m not sure at all what''s going on here, but I''ve spent a lot of time reading over the puppet hiera docs and setting everything up, but when I run puppet agent it just seems to ignore the hiera setup completely. Both the puppet master and agent nodes have exactly the same versions of puppet and hiera (installed via the official puppet APT repository). I''ve

Crash Hard, Crash Often
I've been using asterisk for 3+ years now, I love it, but it doesnt love me back. :-) It was crashing frequently and seemingly randomly prior to this latest upgrade. Not sure what version it was running prior to upgrade (it was probably an old CVS HEAD from 2+ years go.) Anyway, currently running 1.4.21.2. == Problem == Problem is that its crashing for seemingly no reason at all, no

Is Mongrel dead?
Is Mongrel dead? When I look at http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/wiki/News the latest news was from close to a year ago, when last version of Mongrel was released. A look at the tickets shows a rather sad picture with only two developers “evanweaver” and “luislavena” contributing to the bug fixes lately. Please understand that I am not complaining – I just want to know the situation so that I can
