Dallas Ruby Brigade meets March 7th
The Dallas Ruby Brigade begins! Following in the proud tradition of Seattle.rb, NYC.rb and many others, Dallas has joined the crowd with its own local Ruby Brigade. We''ll be meeting Tuesday, March 7th in Addison. The plan is as follows: * Meet between 6:45 and 7:00 in the lobby downstairs. Because of the way security works, you''ll want to be timely in your arrival. At 7:00 we''ll head upstairs at 7 to go to the Valtech offices where we''ll hold the meeting. * From 7 to 8, we...

The LCC book (A Retargetable C Compiler: Design and Implementation [Addison-Wesley, 1995, ISBN 0805316701, ISBN-13 9780805316704]) has very good descriptions of pattern-matching instruction selectors and simple register allocators. LLVM doesn't work exactly the same way but the concepts are similar enough to translate fairly well. -Davi...

[ADV] "Mongrel: Serving, Deploying, and Extending Your Ruby Applications" BOOK
Time for some all time pimpage folks. Me and Matt Pelletier wrote a small PDF book on Mongrel entitled: "Mongrel: Serving, Deploying, and Extending Your Ruby Applications" since we really wanted you to know what it was about. It''s published by Addison Wesley Professional, has just over 100 pages of goodness, and is available for $14.99 at: http://safari.oreilly.com/0321483502 The book covers all the major topics related to Mongrel, but does it in a quick fast way so you can get the idea, get a working setup going, and then do more research for...

Good books about the internals of Rails 3
Hi, I''m a new RoR and Ruby developer and I''m searching for some good resources (books or website) that go a little further than books like the railstutorial (which is excellent btw). But after reading this, I feel like as long as I''m working with scaffolding and simple gems, it''s ok, and a lot can be accomplished with this but I would like to have a deeper

RSpec book?
<http://www.apress.com/book/bookDisplay.html?bID=10368> Came across this as a stub page browsing Amazon UK. This is good news! I''m surprised it hasn''t been discussed on the list before. Was Chad keeping it a secret? I hope it will have plenty of BDD theory. I''m still waiting for that magic book I can give to someone and say "here - read this, it

Any good conferences this year about ruby/rspec/watir?
Hello. Sorry for this little offtopic question, but I was wondering if anyone happens to know if there''s any good conferences coming up about rspec or ruby or watir in this year where I could attend to? Or any good website where such things are listed or something similar. All suggested conferences should not take place before one month from now (employer needs some time to get good

passthru
Question: Is there a method to allow NT logons to 'passthru' a Samba system??? It is necessary for me to hide a number of Win95 systems behind a linux system running ipmasq. All of that works o.k., but, for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to avoid having logon scripts run twice. I have placed the scripts in appropriate places on the linux system, thinking that

Perverse behaviour of Office XP
...Is Office XP using some sort of extended status information which isn't initially defined to determine the setting of the flag? Has anyone seen this problem and come up with a Samba based workaround? Changing the meaning of jitter buffer timestamp

I would say that an int is 32 bits :-) Actually, RTP defines the timestamp as a 32-bit value. Now, what happens when it overflows (3 days for narrowband), I don't know what the RFC says about it. > In my current > implementation

Seeking ERD/Schema resources
Hi all. I''ve been working diligently through several of the popular tomes on RoR: - AWDWR - Beginning RoR E-Commerce - The Money Train (Benjamin Curtis) I''ve learned lots, however these books cover selling one type of product (i.e. a book). One thing is eluding me: I''m trying to develop a schema for a music store that offers products with options (i.e. Filetype, Length)
