Anyway, the syntax above was completely off-the-cuff, so please
ignore it should you find it abrasive. I was more interested in
hearing whether this sort of tool would make any sense, and if so,
whether the tool would belong in script/. Also, please let me know
if something similar already exists -- I don''t follow Rails or the
community too closely.
Thanks!

I''m not trying to be abrasive in any way but I''m curious if this
attitude is related to the number of rails apps David maintains. No I
don''t know how many login systems David maintains. I can understand
avoiding components if a person only has one application to maintain.
Maybe a lot of us are still missing so...

I think what is/was the issue is the abrasive way that some of it was
done. It seems to have put people's backs up no end and makes them
predisposed to find fault with it.
It's just different, that's all. It does the job it was designed to do.
It even copes with legacy init scripts, so you can still use them if

Plotting slowly
Some older members of this list will remember the strange pleasure of
seeing a pattern slowly emerge as points were laboriously added to a
scatterplot on graph paper.
A colleague (Harold Henderson, in fact) recently pointed out to me that
there is some quite interesting structure in the abrasion loss data set of
O. L. Davies (reprinted in the book by Hand et al) if you consider the

How about just giving it a rest? Your comments are often abrasive.
Fortunately, there is also some good information sprinkled in there for
people who can overlook the attitiude (or challenged social skills).
Finding some happy medium where you express your opinion without
insulting the people you're trying to "help" would be a good thing. You...

Your comments about spelling, resale, etc. are abrasive, unproductive, and
misleading. Not only is the script available without charge on the web

of the web site gives you credit! And of course, why would I update the

What dramatising? At some point, several people decide that anything they dislike was said by me.
Several other people said far more negative comments about CIPE than myself.
Those comments have now been attributed to me.
I purposely avoided making it about whether or not CIPE should or shouldn't not be included, just why it

That's your response to your own Samba team member, JA.
That's not just simply saying "It's not supported." IMO, that's being borish. And that's certainly not the only time you were abrasive in the thread. [Again, these are all my *opinions,* I have no idea if anyone else agrees or not.]
You do a lot of fielding of questions on Samba, and that's great. It's a thankless job, and I'm sure it's a grind.
I just think a deep breath occasionally when you're frustrated mi...

Unable to log out normally
...rfering? Also, IIRC, the problem began before that,
so I'm in a quandary here.
Part of the problem is that I rarely log out, so I'm not 100% sure of
exactly when this started or what I last installed that might have
triggered it. (BTW, how do I view that?)
Suggestions? Wisdom? Not too abrasive, please.... :-)
Thanks.

Concatenated key
Hi all,
I started playing a couple days ago with Rails and it find it very
interesting.
But I''m a bit stuck with making it work with a concatenated primary key.
I want to use my own names for the DB fields and I''m using SQL Server
2005.
My tables look roughly like this:
CREATE TABLE USERS (
USR_ID VARCHAR(25) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
USR_PASS VARCHAR(25)
)
