issue with SE/Linux - sshd not giving access to /dev/pts/[n]
hi there, i have an issue on my newly created Debian/SELinux/unstable system. i have pam 0.77 se1 installed ssh 3.8.1p1-4 (OpenSSH) and libselinux1 1.12-1. i can log in as root, fine. but i cannot log in as an ordinary user, and i had to grant special permission to the _user_ process (NOT sshd or pam before a setuid and exec is carried out) to access /dev/pts/0. in other words, if i understand this correctly, there is a bug somewhere in either sshd or pam where control of the tty is given at the wrong point, or is not given at all. (russell talks of relabelling the tt...

Hide Unreadable and user ACLs
...eadable = yes" for one share (we'd prefer to use it for more but we can't due to this issue). With "hide unreadable = yes," if a _group_ ACL entry has the read permission to a file or folder, and a user is a member of the group, the file or folder is visible. However, if a _user_ ACL entry has the read permission to a file or folder, the file or folder is *still hidden* to the user. Is this a known issue, working as intended, or a bug? If it's a bug, how would I go about reporting it? Edward L. Hannaford

best way to use emphasis within code?
I want to use fixed font like a code block but also use italics and bold at same time. For example in HTML: <tt>$ <b>mail -u <i>user</i></b></tt> What is the best way to do this in markdown, especially if I have several lines of content that needs to be spaced out correctly? Thanks Jeremy C. Reed

Voicemail User Reference Guide
I'm developing a user reference guide for Asterisk's voice mail application. Note, that this is going to be a _user_ guide, not an administrator guide. The current document is rather rough, but it should give you an idea of the direction that I'm headed. I'd appreciate constructive criticism. The document can be found at: http://www.ocjtech.us/vm.pdf The DocBook XML source files can be found at: htt...

[Bug 1573] New: module revealed thru error msg even with "list = no"
...ReportedBy: widyono@seas.upenn.edu QAContact: rsync-qa@samba.org CC: widyono@seas.upenn.edu "list = no" correctly hides via rsync _server_::, however if one tries rsync _server_::_existing-module_/ and does not have permission, one gets @ERROR: access denied to _user_ from _client_, whereas an attempt for a non-existent module emits @ERROR: Unknown module '_non-existent-module_' If "list = no" is used for security purposes (can't think of another reason at the moment), this can be considered a security bug and thus I left severity at norma...

Autocomplete text field -- what''s it for?
This question is probably naive, as obviously lots of people make use of the autocomplete text field. They provide a great functionality to the _end_ _user_, they look nice and the interaction is intuitive. Still, I just don''t see how to use them sensibly. My major misgiving is that I only get text where I actually want a primary key. I''ve got my own implementation of this where I dynamically load a select element where the value...

file and user permissions on the puppet master, best practice
Hi all. New puppet developer. Very excited. I have the agents communicating with the puppet master. I''m wondering now about best practice for file and user permissions on the puppet master. Most of my wonder probably stems from general lack of understanding in this area. I''d like to get it right though to avoid refactoring later. 1. What''s the best practice, or your

But we now have a report about failure of 255x63 on a popular pseudo-hardware, when the ISO is presented as DVD-ROM. (Probably there is no complaint when it gets presented as hard disk.)

How do I get my IT department to "bless" R?
I currently use R at work "under the radar", but there's a chance I could loose that access. I'd like to get our company to feel comfortable with open source and R in particular. Does anyone have any experience with their company's IT department and management that they would be willing to share? How does one get an all Microsoft shop on board with allowing users to user

From: Maciej ?enczykowski <maze at cela.pl> > That's a good point - does anyone know what the new Intel > Virtualization thingamajig in the new dual core pentium D's is about? It's all speculation at this point. But there are _several_ factors. But I'm sure the first time Intel saw AMD's x86-64/PAE52 presentation, the same thing popped into my mind that popped
