phone emulator for doing interop testing
I'm looking for some software to do emulation of phones so that I can test out a whole range of phones and their firmware revisions against asterisk. Anyone know of something like that? I'm hoping that the hardware vendors have something like that, and _maybe_ I'm really lucky and they are using something somewhat standard like qemu. Audit
...r accessed a particular file at a certain moment, and so on. Samba logs are a bit confusing for this purpose. I thought the audit VFS module was best suited for the task, but I encountered some problems: 1. it does not clearly report which user did each action. Ok, it reports the PID, which could _maybe_ be put in relation with the user by searching in smbd logs, but it's uneasy. 2. It outputs lots of stuff, cluttering syslog. Ok, I can use syslog config to filter user.notice events in a different file, but this does not prevent syslog from becoming cluttered. Moreover, I tried this, and the f...

Asterisk as a stand alone voice mail server (fwd)
...Any Ideas? Not really. It does look perfectly okay to me. (it should say "Eingang" instead of "INBOX", though, unless you changed the translation...) You could try leaving yourself voicemail, first. That should give you a CiscoIPPhoneIconMenu instead of the CiscoIPPhoneText. _maybe_ the phone is happier with that... Cheers, Siggi

PDC BDC hot failover
Hi there, I have a problem getting my Samba installation redundant. I installed a PDC and a BDC working with 2 LDAP servers. The problem is, when users are logged in and the BDC fails, the PDC does not take over the running sessions and vice versa. The clients have a hanging explorer and so on. When the failing server gets back online again, everything works, no lags anymore. Is it possible

So nothing wrong with you cron line, so its probably something in your environment.

Using setuid on smbd
Hello list, I wonder if it is a really bad idea to setuid bit on samba daemons to make them start with root privileges? I need it in an embedded systems where the daemons are started by a non root user and I don't have access to sudo etc and we all know that smbd should run under root. Cheers, henke

Neverwinter Nights creature viewer problem
...or windows - I am somewhat at a loss here. I have a _very_ speculative theory: The viewer is written in Borland C++ Builder, and when I've earlier tried Borland written stuff on older versions of Wine, one problem was that the window would be placed far out of the visible screen. I thought that _maybe_ (heavy speculation ahead) that's what's happening to the OpenGL window pane here. If anybody here treis the viewer, you can right-click in the pane and choose 'show grid', and that is supposed to show a green grid in the pane, rendered with OpenGL; no need to actually load any of t...

The thing that interests me first and foremost is whether the latest CentOS 7 iteration will install right out of the box with all hardware properly detected, no manual compiling of drivers or jumping through hoops to _maybe_ getting stuff to work with eg a HP Elitebook 850 G4. dsync deleted my mailbox - what did I do wrong?
...mp/mail_backup Error: Mailbox INBOX sync: mailbox_delete failed: INBOX can't be deleted. Wait. What? Sure enough, the last couple of days are gone, the target mailbox is completely empty. I read the man page over and over again, but failed to see the problem. I even thought for a moment that _maybe_ dsync backup is one-way only (even if that failed as well) and tried the same command with mirror. Exactly the same output, same result, empty target mailbox. In the end I succeeded to import the mails with doveadm import, completely lost a number of days of mails. My fault, sloppy not to back...

Problems Seeing Output From Wine
Hi All, I'm very new to this whole wine app so please stick with me. I have installed wine 1.0 from codeweavers and am having mixed success with it, for example: I am able to intall the motorola 56000 software developement tools under the ~/.wine/fake_windows/Program Files/ directory and can actually use the assembler if I explicitly tell wine the full path wine --

Properly extending the AD schema
...dd the attribute to some objects using ldbedit and also managed to get these values externally over LDAP (with SOGo, which is why I am trying to add the attrib in the first place, btw). It does not seem like a clean solution to just manually set the attribute in the DB though. *** I thought that _maybe_ the problem was that the attribute?s CN contained space characters, since none of the existing/built-in ones do. I created a test attribute the same way, but no dice. Still can?t see it when editing a Person. As a second attempt, I followed the wiki guide and created two LDIF files using the templ...
