Analog modems behind an Asterisk server?
.../FXS hardware restricts this kind of a setup to lower data transmission rates, is this correct? Currently, we only transmit at 1200bps, is this rate problematic with Digium cards? Up to what data transmission rate are Digium cards known to work reliable? We do not think we'll ever go beyond 9600bps, can we do this with a let's say TDM400P? Will future Digium hardware improve the situation or will this stay the same in the future? How is hardware from other vendors performing when using analog modems? Thanks for any information on this, Christian Schnell. REKOBA GmbH Berlin

Digium cards, so disappointing !
I am so fed up with Digium cards. My company first owned a TE410P, I installed it in a Dell server and "enjoyed" its instability (we bought it months before Digium warned about the incompatibility issues). Then we switched to a TE411P for the hardware echo cancellation. Now we want to receive fax (< 20/day) on it and guess what ? Since April 2006 (again a few months after we bought

IPMI serial console
Hi all, A recent thread inspired me to try getting a proper serial console working on a Supermicro X9SCL motherboard with IPMI. However I find that while I see loader messages and the getty I enabled after boot I don't get any kernel messages which does somewhat limit the utility.. The BMC creates COM3 (/dev/cuau2) which works with getty. I modified /boot/loader.conf like so..

Sipura 2100 and Asterisk and Fax
...es to cooperate in this setup. I figure it must be my fax machine and the baud rate. You see, I have a Brother MFC8300 that's hardwired to 14400bps. I'm thinking that the Azacall will support up to 14400bps (like the later Cisco ATA-186's will) but the Sipura will only support up to 9600bps. I emailed Sipura to find out and all they could manage to tell me was... === "You will have better reliability when using 9600bps when using fax. (along with G711, etc..) T.38 fax support for SPA-2100 will be available Q2" === Gee thanks guys! You could just say "We're too l...

Still on spandsp/app_fax and T.38
...use app_fax to receive a fax using T.38, I get very low transmission rates, and about 30% of the faxes are just not transmitted at all. 2400bps is not uncommon. If instead of T.38 I use an analog landline connected to that very same Asterisk box, app_fax works wonderfully well transmitting at full 9600bps. Just to rule out Asterisk's T.38 handling, I noticed that Fax For Asterisk works perfectly with T.38, also on that same box. I'll be happy to provide you any info that could help solve this issue. Softfax/spandsp
Hi all, After a long time having no time, I have finally done some fresh work on my software fax machine. I have replaced the original carrier tracking with something more robust. I have also added 4800, and 2400 bits per second modes, and cleaned up a few bugs in areas like superfine mode operation. I apologise for this update taking so long. At ftp://ftp.opencall.org/pub/spandsp you will
