911 emergency service and VoIP
I understand that most VoIP providers allow for 911 calling but that 911 service is not the same as that available to PSTN.

Re: 911 and lawsuits and redundancy
...PSTN line that is run through armored trunking to an analogue phone in a fire-proof cabinet. Simply put, a classic Hollywood style "red phone" with one button and a giant red flashing light. (Okay, full keypad and no flashing light, but you get the idea). The reality is, that 999 or 911 redundancy has nothing to do with the phone system per-say, it's down to the crisis procedures of the company. Think of it this way; what happens if a fire breaks out on a large plant? First, you'd have the staff who found it phoning emergency services. Next, you'll have the securit...

E911 Testing !
I believe the 911 is a serious issue if one does an asterisk installation in an office. How do you test 911? Won't they arrest you or something for dialing 911 for no reason and talking to one of their agents who could have taken a more important call? On the other hand what an emergency comes up (like someon...

disable client side hangup after dialing 911
Hi Has anyone tried to reproduce the following behavior that a standard phone line does with 911. Normally if someone calls 911 and hangs up after the call has been established then the line is not dropped because it is held by the 911 agent. If you pickup your phone you should still be connected to the 911 agent and be able to talk to him. The call is dropped only when the 911 agent hang...

911 and ISDN PRI
Does asterisk support this? I have a location that I planned to only put a PRI line, but testing 911 (I called them first), I just get a hangup. Does 911 normally work over a PRI line? Anything special I have to setup in asterisk? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I have 3 analog trunks zap/1, zap/4 and zap/5. zap/5 is the least used line. Would the following work for 911 calls? Source for 9-911 Labels to attach to phones?
I looked on google for some time and haven't found a source for 9-911 labels to attach to phones. I have run into them in the past but I can't currently find a source. I am looking for a low volume were having them printed up for me would not be economical. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks -Jason -- -------------------------------------------------...

911 @ Zap Channel Breakin
Ok here is one for you. I know we all do the this for 911: exten => _911,1,Dial(Zap/1/911) exten => _9911,1,Dial(Zap/1/911) And this probably is more then acceptable for most of us. However I have a system setup that uses SIP for most calls and 1 POTS line. We use a "least cost" routing that uses the POTS line for local calls AND SIP w...

911 & SoftHangup on SPA-3000
Hi, I have a SPA-3000 and would like to use the 911 recipe from http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+tips+911. So I took the simple recipe and modified it slightly: exten => 911,1,ChanIsAvail(SIP/potsoutbound) exten => 911,2,Dial(SIP/potsoutbound/911) exten => 911,3,Hangup() exten => 911,102,SoftHangup(SIP/potsoutbound) exten => 9...

E911 mf camma Trunks
I just set up a t1 with 2 camma mf 911 trunks on it, and I am having a issue with it. We can call 911 which is routed out these new trunks, and it goes to the 911 center, but they are not getting the ANI and hence "no record found". Our LEC is Embarq, and they say they can see the call come in and send: KP-911-ST and then K...

911 and lawsuits
Just curious if any of the Asterisk installers are doing anything special to protect themselves from a possible lawsuit caused by 911 failure during a Asterisk/computer crash? I realize that any traditional PBX or even a phone line can fail but, anything running on a computer is probably going to be less reliable than most PBXs. Anybody requiring customers to acknowledge and sign any kind of waiver? Just the legal fees of defe...

911 Q
OK, got a question on 911. Looking into setting up a couple asterisk servers at a country club, with VOIP phones in each of 100 short-term residential rental units. Approx 100 extensions, approx 24 outside lines. Since everything is geographically at one location, reaching 911 correctly shouldn't present a problem. H...

To anyone seeking 911 Service Providers "stay away!!!"
To anyone seeking 911 services Highly recommended to everyone to stay away from this issue I do not have a name for the company right off hand, but they got sued really bad when they tried 911 via VOIP and the 911 drop kept occurring in different areas and someone died! Implement 1 single hard wire for this serv...

911 settings.
I would like to know if anyone has come up with a script for 911 dialing rules that put correct information on our locations. We have our office in 3 different building one being our production & shipping dock. It is almost 2 blocks away. We are connected with Ethernet Wireless between the buildings and have Sip phones setup in the other 2 locations. All...

911 and Cops knocking on my door
...is needed and not provided I will gladly provide it. I have a very basic asterisk setup. 1 x100p card and a grandstream handytone 286. I can make calls fine to most phone numbers from the handytone device the trouble seems to come when I dial this number 591-1079. It puts me through to the local 911 dispatch. Causing the police to show up at my doorstep and check to make sure everything is alright. I can see why I think; 5 "911" 079. But I don't understand why it is being handled this way. Can somebody offer me some guidance on how to get this to stop? TIA _ /-\ ndrew

Using asterisk for a 911 call center....
Has anyone had any experience using asterisk for a 911 call center? Does anyone know of any reason why it would not be suitable? As far as I know all 911 call routing takes place at the CO switch so a regular T1 line should work fine. I understand that there is support for ACD in asterisk and that is should be possible to implement screen pop (CTI). An...

Seize phone line
I have a question, we have some locations were I'm just planning on putting in a PRI, management also wants analog lines incase the PRI is down and someone calls 911. Is there a way to use asterisk to seize a phone line from the fax machine? I don't want to have to have an analog line that only gets used in the very rare situation with the PRI being down and someone needed to dial 911 (other incoming and outgoing calls would be routed over a private T1 t...
