7zip benchmark
Hi, I could try latest 7zip (4.57) on a triple boot machine (Debian SID i386, x86_64 and native Windows XP SP2), and found something surprising in the results : amd64 at 2400MHz linux32 -> 1814 linux64 -> 1946 win32 -> 2004 So performance is much better in Linux 64 bit than in 32 bit, while both are slower t...

Puppet on Windows: Avoid download msi files if they aren't going to be installed
Hi all! I''m new on puppet, and I making my firsts classes. I have defined an example class to install 7Zip on Windows servers, it runs right, but I would like to improve it. The problem is that each time that I execute the "puppet agent --test" it downloads the 7zip.msi file, although it is really installed. So, my question is: Is possible to avoid the download of the associated source file...

Enabling EarlyCSE w/ MemorySSA by default
Can you share you compile-time and memory footprint measurements at least for CTMark? For a new pass/feature it would be great to share this with the community before you commit. Or did I miss them? Great! I thought I had to look at our pipeline at O0 to make sure optimized regalloc was supported (https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33022 <https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33022> in mind). Hi! I'm glad that their is interest in the VMware install of LLVM 2.3. The appliance(compressed via 7zip) is over 800 MB in size. So, I can't send it out via email. I don't have the resources to host it. If someone can find an area that this appliance can live, I'd be willing to upload it os that everyone could use it. regards, Bernardo -------------- next part -------------- An HTML at...

Therefore, I**tried to decompress the tar.gz file and create a zip file using 7zip but the installation of the resulting zip files didn't work. Can any one give me some ideas? * *Wayne* [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Problem with zero length files on USB drives
Hi Everyone, I came up with this behaviour running Wine on MacOS X: If I create a zero length file on a USB drive, Wine behaves as if the file is non-existent. For example, when I try to compress the file using 7zip (I know it's weird to compress a zero byte file :) ), 7zip throws "sharing violation" warning. Can anybody confirm this, or point me to the bug report if it's already reported? My Wine version is 1.2 and MacOS X version is 10.5.8. Thanks!

The tune is "Nick Warren - Devil's Elbow" and is freely available from the author's Soundcloud account. W2K BSOD: Memory errors
...MODE_TRAP, etc. All involve the memory. So the obvious conclusion is that my memory is fried. However, I've played numerous games, used tons off programs, and none has ever triggered a BSOD. I'd say (from my limited insight in this) that CPU and memory intensive tasks like compression (RAR, 7zip) and compilation of software should trigger these same errors?! Am I wrong here? I've even tried encoding other audio formats like mp3, ogg and ape to see if the problem really isn't coming from foobar2000, but all other formats are ok, and today EAC also gave me a BSOD as soon as the flac...

Portable R in zip file for Windows
...t some installers are actually compressed files in disguise, but I think this is not the case with R, right? I will study the exact nature of the restriction, and get back to you. Nevertheless, having a installer and a "portable" version is something pretty common (R Studio, Notepad++ and 7Zip pop to my mind now) and pretty helpful to deal with security restrictions, so I thought R had one, somewhere.
