Cisco CP-7970G
Hi all,
I just bought the 7970G phone. It's a beautiful phone. In trying to make it work with Asterisk, I've read many posts on the net. However, all of them make reference to having to install the SIP firmware on the phone. Where can I get it?
Thanks

Cisco 7970G line buttons
I just upgraded my 7970G to the SIP firmware. What I'd like to do is have the 8 line buttons be able to make outbound calls using the same account (for practical purposes, same caller-ID). Since the phone is going to have a single public DID, when a call comes in, it should ring on the first available line. So, if I...

Cisco 7970G App Development?
Do you know where I can find docs for developing apps that run locally
on a Cisco 7970G IP phone (with SIP firmware installed)? Apps that use
the phone's display, keys, and other local functions, as well as call
init/control, and other network features, including looking up directory
info in, say, an LDAP server? All development using Asterisk instead of
CallManager services, of c...

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information
I would like to get in contact with users/consultants who are or have
worked with the Cisco phones and Asterisk to trade information.
Cisco has reluctantly made SIP available on their phones and most of the
information on voip-info and other wiki's appears to be reverse
engineered. There is a wealth of information out there which is
terrific.
I have a client with about 40 phones

...mmending either Cisco, Aastra, Polycom, or Snom, for we've heard
great things about them. However, having no real experience with them
makes it hard in recommending one to our customer. The only
experience we've had is a very frustrating one trying to load the IP
software on a Cisco 7970G and so we assume that if we have to go
through that for all 80 phones, we'll probably commit suicide :)
Thanks

New Cisco "Color" Phone
I thought you guys would be interested to know:
eWeek has a short article about Cisco bringing out
a new IP phone: 7970G. It has a high resolution
color touch-screen display with support for XML and
can act as a mini-browser to allow the development
of vertical applications.
But get this: the price will be $995. I don't think
I'll be getting one any time soon.

The killer app for Asterisk in corporate deployment
...on the same infrastructure: telephony,
building automation/control, boardroom
media/presentations.
What would be the total icing on the cake is that they
have a GUI that controls everything and runs on mobile
phones and pda's, and they say, could probably be
ported to run on the Cisco IP Phone 7970G. Since
their GUI code already runs on Symbian, Linux, Windows
and Windows CE, it must be quite portable. With that
1 addition, then the SIP phone would become the total
heart of the organization, handling the telephony, a
built-in touch-screen to control building automation,
as well as boardroom...

SPA942 quality for a Bank
Before committing to about 50 of the spa942's, I like to take a last
poll from those on the list to identify any negative issues that might
be associated with the audio, functionality, early failures, etc, on the
spa942.
Expecting to deploy these using existing cat5 cabling and both rj45
jacks. Been using three of theme in a short term demo with the customer,
but the demo systems has

Help sought: Asterisk H.323, Cisco IOS Gatekeeper(s) intra-zone call routing and TETRA
...re network of Asterisk boxes dotted around the UK and overseas with hundreds of extensions and our own number-plan/dial-plan in the form 8EEXXXX where 'EE' is a two digit "exchange number" and 'XXXX' is the four digit extension number, so for example my desk phone (a Cisco 7970G as it happens) at home is 8202001 and other phones around the house 8202002, 8202003 etc.
I have a Cisco 2621XM connection to the internet with NM-2V and some VIC-2E&M cards and have my home Asterisk box hooked up to ham radio and other interesting audio sources which I use Asterisk ooh323 to...

D-LINK PoE switch, does it work with cisco or do I need to do the cable trick?
As an alternative to the "expensive" PoE switches out there, I found the
D-Link Web Smart DES-1316 switch for just around $400. Now, the issue
is, it does 802.3af power and, as I've found out through previous
discussions, this original 76?0 series phones (the non G variety) do not
use 802.3af. So I'm assuming I just need to use the special cable thing

Cisco 7940G licensing with asterisk
Hi there,
In Cisco web site
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheet09186a008008884a.html
It says that regardless of the technology used you have to buy a licencse.
Does the license apply to use the phone with asterisk, or, can i just
buy the phone?
Also, the phone does not requiere to use an AC adapter if used with
PoE injectors/switches.
Can non-Cisco PoE

Which SIP phones to buy?
I need to buy some new phones for our own offices.
I've used only Polycom phones until now, but I'd like to broaden my
experience.
I'm trying to decide which phones to experiment with. I have these options:
- A combination of Polycom, Aastra and Snom
- Just Polycom
One the one hand, I'd like to keep things uniform, since it greatly
simplifies provisioning. On the other hand, I

Cisco 7906g & SIP
Hi, I have a problem with Cisco 7906G and SIP protocol use with Asterisk
1.2.26.
I have uploaded in my tftp server the firmware
'cmterm-7911_7906-sip.8-0-4SR1' that use 'SIP11.8-0-4SR1S.loads' and in
SEPmacaddress.cnf.xml I have:
<loadInformation>SIP11.8-0-4SR1S</loadInformation>
..but in tftp log server I have:
