cisco 7940g, 7960g phone screen sizes?
Anyone have screen size + resolution for the cisco 7940g, 7960g? I'm having a hard time finding it anywhere. No vendors have the information and cisco doesn't list it. All I've been able to find is the rez of the 7940g : 100x145. -Dan

Cisco 7940G
Hi, We've got a customer site with Cisco 7940G Phones connecting to our Asterisk Server via SIP. However, upon running a "sip show peers" it states that the phone is : user/user (Unspecified) D 255.255.255.255 0 Unmonitored All phones can call out via our Asterisk Server fine regardless. The problem is when the...

Time/Date missing on Cisco 7940G and 7960G SIP phone display
When we were first installing these SIP phones, the time and date was displayed on the top status line. Firmware version 6.3. Using dhcp, tftp, http, and ntp servers for configuration all on the LAN (* box). Now that we have these working with *, the time/date display is missing. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom

Cisco 7940G/7960G SIP phones local echo on * box.
Our new * server with Cisco SIP phones is now working pretty well. But we still have one problem that has not been resolved. The Cisco SIP phones have a consistent echo. It sounds like about a 500ms delay. This echo is not heard from the POTS side. It is heard when calling another SIP extension in our office. We are running 6.3 firmware on the phones. Any suggestions would be

Cisco 7940G licensing with asterisk
Hi there, In Cisco web site http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheet09186a008008884a.html It says that regardless of the technology used you have to buy a licencse. Does the license apply to use the phone with asterisk, or, can i just buy the phone? Also, the phone does not requiere to use an AC adapter if used with PoE injectors/switches. Can non-Cisco PoE

Some advice
I need a quick bit of advice from the list. We purchased an asterisk based phone system back about 6 months ago and we are using Cisco 7940G phones (I know, not everyone's favorites). We are using the second line on the phones for paging with a auto-answer, now my question is having the system call 20 of these paging extensions, should that be enough load to cause instability in the system? Our vendor is claiming it is causing the p...

Phone choices....opinion request Polycom vs Cisco
Hi I am struggling with hardware choices to get started with. My options are narrowed down to SIP phones - Polycom IP500, IP600 and Cisco 7940G. of importance is: - functionality / integration with asterisk - headset functionality and use - voice quality - build quality Is there much of a difference between Polycom and Cisco? Scanning the group it looks like there may be slightly more issues with Polycom but I don't know how they...

Cisco 7940 and multiple simultaneous calls
We've just started testing with Asterisk (CVS HEAD) and a pair of Cisco 7940G phones running the SIP 6.3 firmware. One issue that we've run into is the ability to have multiple calls ring to the phone. Our scenario is that the user is using an extension and another call comes in for that extension. We'd like to have that second call ring the second line -- the sa...

Silly question: Why multiple lines on SIP phones?
...oing to sound really silly and I must be confused about it. Maybe someone can set me straight. I've been tinkering for a while with * and a number of different FXO/FXS cards, SIP phones, and ATAs trying to get a feel for what works and what doesn't. In the SIP phone group, I have a Cisco 7940G, a Polycom 500, and now an SPA-841. Each of these allow me to configure at least 2 "lines". What I'm wrestling with is what to do with the second lines. With the cisco and the polycom, I have only one line configured and can successfully conference and transfer calls. When I'm...

Re: New to Asterisk and a question
I recently dug into this, from what I've seen, the best bang for the buck out there is going to be Polycom's. A local vendor has Polycom IP500 phones for $174 shipped to me. IP500 would be comparable to a 7940G I'm assuming. I ran into the same problem with pricing, don't want grandstreams, but can't afford the nice Ciscos. Check out the Polycom's. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: Brad Stockdale [mailto:brad@greenepa.net] Sent: Monday, August 30, 2004 7:07 PM To: asterisk-users@lis...

Asterisk 1.00 Call quality problem
I upgraded from RC2 last night, but have a major call quality issue. Heres our setup: 1 FXS and 1 FXO card. Incoming/Outgoing calls via IAX trunking from our provider. G729 running between us and the VoIP provider. Two handsets, one BudgetTone 102 and a Cisco 7940G running the 7.2 SIP firmware. Both these phones are using ULAW to the server, and we have plenty of G729 licenses on the server. Now the BudgetTone does not have any problems at all. The Cisco however has severe breakup on the incoming audio from the VoIP provider. The caller can hear me fine. In...
