Cryptic error message from namespaceExport
Dear all, Today I got this error message (R 3.6.1) when installing my package: Error: package or namespace load failed for ?inlatools? in namespaceExport(ns, exports): undefined exports: .__C__inla My package was using setOldClass("inla") and exported the "inla" class via the NAMESPACE. It imports functions from the INLA package. Older versions of the INLA package did not

.... For example, MATLAB and Pandas regex both allow non-dropping empty matches (though of course I acknowledge Pandas is not a base language). > > Best, > CG -- Michael Lawrence Scientist, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Genentech, A Member of the Roche Group Office +1 (650) 225-7760 michafla at gene.com Join Genentech on LinkedIn | Twitter | Facebook | Instagram | YouTube

Feature request: non-dropping regmatches/strextract
I think that's a good reason for not including this in regmatches; you're right, its name is somewhat suggestive of yielding matches. Also, that sounds like a great design for strcapture with an atomic prototype. Best, CG

How to get an object name from C?
(earlier I sent it as html by mistake). Hi, How can I get from C an object name used as a function argument? I have sample code in C that gives me access to the name of the function being called: SEXP xname(SEXP x) { const char *fun_name = CHAR(PRINTNAME(CAR(x))); x = CDR(x); const char *arg_name = isNull(TAG(x)) ? "" : CHAR(PRINTNAME(TAG(x)));

Encrypted passwords
Is there a tool, either for Perl or C, that will add/change the NT and LM encrypted passwords in the smbpasswd file? I know about the smbpasswd command, but I can't use that function from a script. I tried #!/bin/perl system("smbpasswd \< $oldpassword\n$newpassword\n$newpassword\n"); and some other things, but I couldn't get it to work. TSD

smbd processes won't go away
Running Samba 2.0.6, on Sun SC1000 (4 CPUs) with Solaris 2.6 smbd processes don't seem to terminate although the connections don't show-up with netstat. The client session seems to terminate, and the connection is terminated, but the smbd process seems to hang around waiting. smb.conf specifies "deadtime=5", and in most cases there is no open file associated with the smbd
