centos 6' repositories against redhat 6 upstream
Hi ?Wonder how's the relationship between the centos 6's main OS/ repository and redhat 6's repositories. Let's say, Redhat 6 seperate RPMs into a series of repos like: ? ?redhat-6-server ?##(base redhat 6 OS/) ? ?redhat-6-server-optional ? ?redhat-6-server-supplementary ? ?redhat-6-server-rhev-agent ? ?rhel-6-server-cf-tools ? ?... Why no CentOS 7 repos?
Any particular reason CentOS 7 repos aren't available? I'm finding integration issues with CentOS 6's ancient versions of MySQL and PHP with third party applications. -- Thanks in advance, ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Edwards sedwards at sedwards.com Voice: +1-760-468-3867 PST

Recoding numeric value
I am a newbie and can't figure out how to recode a numeric value. In my data (pharm311), I have a column called "explain" and I need to find all the 6's and change it to NA (blank). Could someone help? I'm sorry if this is too basic, I started messing with R this week and got stuck with this problem since yesterday... Thanks in advance!

Will CentOS 6's upstream be based on Fedora 10?
...l. I'm asking because I've found Fedora 9 to be buggy as hell - it is one of the worst Fedora releases I've ever used (and I've been using it since Fedora Core 1). I'm putting up with it for my work laptop, but it's not fun. :( My main home machine is still on Fedora Core 6 and will stay there until CentOS 6 comes out. I don't want to use CentOS 5 because it's upstream is based on Fedora Core 6, and I want something new! When CentOS 6 hits, I will be using it for my work laptop. I might just keep Fedora for home my machine. I haven't decided yet if I wa...

SOCKSv6 and OpenSSH
Hi there, I'm Vladimir Olteanu (or just Vlad, for short), and I'm working on the SOCKSv6 protocol. It is being discussed at the IETF (https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-olteanu-intarea-socks-6-10). The spec has matured somewhat and is currently undergoing an adoption call at the Intarea WG. I would like to get your opinion on this newer version of the protocol, in particular on how...

NIC Stability Problems Under Xen 4.4 / CentOS 6 / Linux 3.18
I have three different types of CentOS 6 Xen 4.4 based hypervisors (by hardware) that are experiencing stability issues which I haven't been able to track down. All three types seem to be having issues with NIC and/or PCIe. In most cases, the issues are unrecoverable and require a hard boot to resolve. All have Intel NICs. Often t...

Acceptable version mismatch between syslinux 6.0N's MBR/ldlinux.sys and *.c32?
Hi there, first, thanks a lot for syslinux! I'm aware that one can't mix syslinux 4's MBR + ldlinux.sys with syslinux 6's COM32R modules. Fair enough. Now, I need to know how strong this "versions *must* match" requirement is when dealing with different versions of syslinux 6.x. E.g. * MBR and ldlinux.sys installed by syslinux 6.03-pre1 * all *.c32 modules installed by 6.03-pre14 Has this a chanc...

Win'95 printer lock-ups & filters
...& lpd don't like and it will completely hose the printer, to the point where I have to clear the queue and sometimes physically reset the print server attached to the printer. I can't even telnet to the print server when this happens. Most of the printers are HP LaserJet 4's & 6's connected via external or internal JetDirect print servers. What is unclear to me is why this is happening. I suspect Win '95 is the culprit and if this is just SOP while running networked printers I'll live with it, but I want to make sure I haven't missed anything. Filters: Wh...

Question about "generic" USB <=> Serial Port kernel drivers...
OK, I am running CentOS 6 on my Laptop and Desktop, presently kernel version 2.6.32-696.20.1.el6.x86_64 (yes, a version or so out of date -- I'll probably do an update soon -- non-trivial since my Internet connection is via dialup). I recently bought a couple of Adafruit Arduino compatibles, a Flora and a Metro 328. H...

Call supplicant on link detection
Dear all, I have a working 802.1x structure with a bunch of Cisco switches, and a couple of NPS RADIUS servers. 802.1x auhtentication with MSCHAPv2 is working with Windows clients and I need to get some Centos clients into the structure. I've been using wpa_supplicant and now it would be usefull to have an auto start script when the interface detects a link and call the supplicant to

CentOS 5 grub boot problem
I never thought I'd say this, but I think it's easier to do this with GRUB 2. Anyway I did an installation to raid1's in CentOS 6's installer, which still uses GRUB legacy. I tested removing each of the two devices and it still boots. These are the commands in its log: : Running... ['/sbin/grub-install', '--just-copy'] : Running... ['/sbin/grub', '--batch', '--no-floppy', '...
