I am stuck in my Scalix install. It checks for 512Mb memory. At some point I am suppose to get the extra memory, but for now I am stuck at 256Mb. Is there some system value that I can set so that the installer is led to believe there is 512Mb of memory, so I can at least get this stuff installed?

Well, I follow this post : http://www.linuxbyexamples.net/2012/08/boot-winxp-from-http-server.html and I can successfully boot into winxp using gpxelinux.0 loading vhd image through http. This works well. But when the vhd image getting bigger than 512MB (I added some more files into the image), the booting proccess fail at the loading the image step. Then I try boot the image on usb disk (without using gpxelinux.0 and http) -> it works ! Hello again, I encountered something amazing. First I thought there is not enough memory allowed through ulimit. ulimit is now set to (almost) 512MB but rsync still gets out fo memory at 8MB. Hi! I installed wine in Kubuntu and afterwords i installed steaminstaller from my CSs CD! I could execute both steam and CSs very fast and without problems. I veryfied that my ATI drivers were properly installed, which they where. So no problems there :) ! Then I configured my video options in CSs (16:10 1680 x 1050) and started up the game, but then I got some strange problem with the screen.

Hello, I've got a handful of i386 boxes, and a handful of amd64 boxes running a 32-bit application, the reasons for this exact configuration mystify me as well as the deployment predates my time in the environment. Now that the dataset the application is loading is rapidly approaching 512MB we're starting to tweak kern.maxdsiz and kern.dfldsiz to 1GB. The i386 boxes are doing great, but we hit an issue with the amd64 machines in that 64bit apps seem to work fine, but the 32bit apps running on the amd64 machines fail to be able to use more than the i386 default of 512MB no m...

I was trying to read a large .csv file (80 colums, 400,000 rows, size of about 200MB). I used scan(), R 2.3.1 on Windows XP. My computer is AMD 2000+ and has 512MB ram. It sometimes freezes my PC, sometimes just shuts down R quitely. Is there a way (option, function) to better handle large files?
